This is the obvious distinction. Deuteronomy 4:16: lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any figure; the likeness of male or female. Our Lord God does not want people to make any kind of image and the likeness of anything. The Bible mentions the likeness of males or females, if anyone proceeds to do that they’re acting corruptly, or what the Bible says they’re committing a sin. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image– any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth, you shall not bow down to them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquities of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me. [Exodus 20:3-5] Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. [Acts 17:29] God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. [John 4:24] They lift it to the shoulders and carry it; they put it in place, and there it stands, unable to move from where it is. If any pray to it, it cannot answer, or save them from disaster.
