Volgens The Wall Street Journal zou Trump in zijn eerste 100 dagen (van zijn 2de periode) als president een bezoek willen brengen aan Xi in China. In zijn eerste periode deed hij dat na bijna 300 dagen. Toen had Xi al een bezoek gebracht aan Trump in Amerika.

Volgens Trump zou hij met Xi ook gesproken hebben over o.a. fentanyl en TikTok, maar daar staat niets over in de Chinese readout.

Verder zouden Xi en Trump ook afgesproken hebben om een ‘strategisch communicatiekanaal’ tot stand te brengen. En om ‘geregeld contact te hebben’ over ‘belangrijke issues’ die beide landen aangaan.

Op de site van Xinhua staat de Chinese readout van het gesprek tussen Xi en Trump. Er zou (niet verrassend) zijn gesproken over Taiwan (‘dat gaat om nationale soevereiniteit en territoriale integriteit’) en de handel tussen beide landen.
