In conclusion: Non-religious adolescents in NI may have lower mental wellbeing, compared to their religious peers. This may relate to a lack of firm identity and perceived marginalisation. Further, poor family cohesion increased vulnerability to poor mental wellbeing. 6/6

However, when considering the importance of religion, compared with those for whom religion was not important, those who found it important had greater wellbeing scores, and higher levels of family activities was associated with greater mental wellbeing. 5/6
