The SEC would prefer to keep the College Football Playoff field to 12 teams, while the BIG Ten is still pushing for the new format to include a 24 team field, according to On3. The four conference commissioners met this morning, but did not make any progress in their negotiations on whether the playoffs should be expanded to 16 or 24 teams. I believe the current 12 team field is big enough personally, but what do you guys think? Realistically, are there even 12 teams that are capable of winning the title…

How long will it take for you as a "worried OSU fan" to understand the Transfer Portal era is what it is?
Number of OSU players in the portal- 28
Starters- 1
players with basically zero stats in 2025- 19
Players in the 2 deep for next year- Maybe 5-7 max.
Other than Quincy Porter, Bryce West, and Aaron Scott there isnt anyone on the list that should surprise you. Players no longer want to sit around and wait for their turn and colleges dont want to wait for them to develop either.

Indiana for sure is losing both of their coordinators next year. I'm shocked that someone didn't go after them this cycle hoping to get some of the Cignetti magic in their program. At least a foundation on how to operate and building a team while maximizing 3 stars.

@BudElliott3 I’m good with 16 teams and no byes, but higher seeds should get home games in both R16 and Quarterfinals. There has to be some advantage to finishing Top 4 vs 5-8.

The top-2 teams would have got to play Tulane/JMU opening round. That is real table stakes for the conference title games meaning something.
16-team with 2 byes isn't great if the current layoff stuff remains. Even if you do the play-in.

Here is what I don't understand. If OSU is going to lose around 20+ guys to the portal and you're losing big money off the books from guys like Downs, Tate, probably K-Mac and upperclassmen. Where is the money coming off the books at? That should free up capital to go hard.
