JCU is proud to partner with the WHO as a Collaborating Centre for Vector-borne and Neglected Tropical Diseases!
World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific@WHOWPRO

Lymphatic filariasis – aka elephantiasis - is a debilitating and painful disease that causes swelling of limbs which can lead to permanent disability. WHO worked with our Collaborating Centre for Vector-borne and Neglected Tropical Diseases at the College of Medicine and Dentistry, @jcu to develop and implement a more reliable antigen test to diagnose the disease. Making LF easier to diagnose can help detect the disease at the community level, allow for mass administration of anti-LF drugs and help prevent it from returning to affected communities. Collaborating Centres use science to make life better in the Western Pacific and beyond, proving real impact when we work #TogetherForHealth and #StandWithScience.
