We’re excited to share the next step in our pursuit of weak ligands: the successful coordination of an alkane and characterisation and isolation of its complex. Many thanks to our cooperation partners at the UNSW Sydney, who made the characterisation in solution possible
Angewandte Chemie@angew_chem

Why does n-Pentane coordinate towards the 16 VE fragment [Mn(CO)5]+. The answer is simple: it is the best ligand available in this system. Read about the necessary conditions here @KrossingGroup @Malte_Sellin @James_DWatson #AngewandteVIP #openaccess 🔓 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/an…

@FeetoOrourke @MattWhitmanTMBH I tend to agree. Whole video is really well edited and the pace and content is all excellent, but the Matt still shots can be a bit distracting. Personally, I say live action or none, but maybe other people love it. Either way, keep up the good work

@MattWhitmanTMBH I think I have a preference for live action Matt, but the rest of the animations look great

Feedback request: Is this style of video useful for you? Too fast? Too much? Should be longer? Goes on too long? Even if we've never Internet met, I'd be grateful for your thoughts.

@MarkStradiotto At York we had two boxes on house N2, which was from the LN2 boil off. No concerns with O2/H2O levels (sensors always read >0.1 ppm, catalyst regen once a month). If I remember correctly, the outlet pressure was around 5 bar gauge, and had no problems with the solenoid valves.

Chem-peeps: Do any of you have experience using house N2 to run catalyst enabled gloveboxes? How is appropriate delivery pressure to fire the solenoids achieved, etc? Bad idea? Good idea? 😂
