“Hydration Breaks will be imposed in all matches, regardless of weather conditions.” .. AKA Commercial Breaks. FIFA is using “safety” measures to surely get away with airing advertisements in the middle of every game. The Game Is Gone.
FIFA@FIFAcom

Players at @FIFAWorldCup 2026 will benefit from three-minute hydration breaks in each half as FIFA prioritises player welfare at next year's tournament:

Jermaine Jones absolutely rips the U.S. Soccer Federation and calls out the politics ruining the growth of soccer in the U.S. 🗣️ “To be honest, I don’t really watch [the USMNT] much these days. I stepped away because I feel disappointed with the whole federation,” he said. “You know, how people get treated and all that stuff. But I wish everybody the best and the players can play a great World Cup.” “There’s a lot of talk always about how we need this coach then changes will come. But at the end, it’s never happening. It doesn’t matter who’s the coach.” “It’s just excuses always and at the end, it speaks for itself. When you see the national team play in front of half-filled stadiums, people aren’t really coming anymore.” “Back in the day, it doesn’t matter if we played Trinidad, it was full house. Now people aren’t really behind the team. Ask yourself why is that?” “People in America are starting to get smarter and understand the game, they don’t fall easily for what people feed them. That’s sad to see. I figured the best [for me] is to call it a day and step away from all this stuff.” “I put everything I had for this country to hope not only we win games but develop the game of soccer.” “After retiring, I went to get my license, I came back, I played for this country so I thought they’d help me now for the next step in coaching so I’d have the chance to give back to the youth.” “But when you’re really in it and when you see what happens and how many people are just politics and control and dictating stuff, you go, ‘This had nothing to do with growing soccer in this country.’ It’s only about individuals having jobs and helping different people get jobs.” “It’s something I looked at and said, ‘I’m sorry, but that’s not who I am.’ I like to ask questions, I don’t shy away from getting challenged myself. And a lot of people felt uncomfortable with me now as a young coach.” “That’s why the doors were closed.” [via CBS Sports]
