For the last 2 years I’ve had the privilege of traveling around West Africa with @ICWAnews talking to people (largely #Fulbe/#Fulani/#Peul) about everything from #Guinea's 2021 coup to #Benin’s dairy industry to the flagging popularity of #BurkinaFaso’s junta.

The nation that is blockading Cuba is telling us that blockading the Strait of Hormuz is morally wrong. 🤔

Incredible photo of the Lebanese journalist, Ali Shoeib, reporting in front of illegal invaders. Shoeib was murdered by Israel today in a targeted assassination.

“Twelve hours after Israeli settlers brutally attacked several Palestinians and established a new illegal outpost in their village, the Israeli military stepped in. But instead of detaining settlers or dismantling the illegal outpost, the soldiers targeted the Palestinian residents of Tayasir and a CNN team covering the incursion.” @JDiamond1 @AbeerSalmanCNN cnn.com/2026/03/27/mid…

While covering the latest Israeli settler attack in the West Bank, Israeli soldiers assaulted my photojournalist @cyrilthps and detained my team. But our 2-hour detention revealed a lot about the motives of these Israeli soldiers: acting in service of the settler movement. W/ @AbeerSalmanCNN

BREAKING: 19 billion ILS ($ 6 billion) is the @PeaceNowIL tally of Israel's 2023-2025 State budget allocation to destroying Palestinian homes and livelihoods, obstructing humanitarian relief to those most in need, funding and directing settler violence, and forcibly transferring Palestinians to make room for ever expanding settlements. Every last shekel spent to entrench Israel's unlawful presence in Palestine, in grave breach of international law. The settlement enterprise is not merely illegal. It is systematized cruelty, financed line by line. The erga omnes obligation is clear: end Israel's unlawful presence, fully, unconditionally, and now. So we are left with a question that should trouble any government still claiming fidelity to law: why, in the face of such legal clarity, has so little been done? The answer does not lie in uncertainty. It lies in political convenience, dressed up as prudence, and in a timidity that prefers managed illegality to principled action. Call it plainly. This is not restraint. It is acquiescence. And it is time it was dispensed with.

On Sept. 9, 1969, ~20 Palestinians from Gaza boarded a plane from Israel, believing they were bound for Brazil. They’d signed up through an Israeli travel agency for a work-abroad program promising higher wages than they could find in Gaza. But that’s not what awaited them. 🧵

Israel isn’t introducing the death penalty into its penal system; it is bringing a bill to allow for the execution of Palestinians detainees and only Palestinians. The issue here isn’t about the morality of capital punishment (as this statement misleading implies) it’s about an apartheid system so oppressive that it now seeks to dictate who lives and dies.
European External Action Service - EEAS 🇪🇺@eu_eeas

The approval of the Death Penalty Bill by the Israeli Parliament would be a grave step backward. The EU opposes capital punishment in all cases and under all circumstances. We encourage Israel to abide by its previous principled position. Read more: link.europa.eu/FFYKp3

Hasbara is going into overdrive trying to create distance between the Israeli government and the violent settlers rampaging across the West Bank. But there is no daylight between them. None.

Lest we forget, this is what happened in 1982, the last time that the Israelis seized and occupied southern Lebanon. There is no reason to suggest that it won't happen again. aljazeera.com/news/2022/9/16…
