@Pullthepocket He’s a weird case IMO. I’d like to know their thought process. They don’t have the Big Apple for 3yos like he had last year. Can’t see taking a horse like him to Monti or Buffalo so there’s 2 legs gone. Moneys good but not exceptional

@JDHarness Fragment made $800k last year (NYSS). His qualifier, imo, was the single most impressive one I've watched this year. He's strong and balanced and bigger and looks super sound. They paid him into almost nothing. NYSS is too rich.

We lament the thoroughbreds, but with sires stakes racing purses near Gr I purses, you can make millions in protected races - KYSS, ISS, OSS, NYSS.
The two most hyped 2YO's from last year didn't even leave their home tracks.
Many good horses don't even pay into the top events.

@Pullthepocket I think we miss a few but the ones who truly belong especially at 3 go to the big dance. My solution has always been that sire stakes and GC should not try to avoid each other. Horses should have to pick what you want to be… but that idea goes over like a wet fart at meetings

@JDHarness Understood, but common today to plan a yr for the KYSS (now Oak Grove April) or NYSS & make a lot of money.
Yrs ago in ONT, horses like Apache's Fame and A Worthy Lad stayed home & paid into few. Now most NYSS and KYSS horses do that. We often dont see them in big events.
