Other than edge, what do you think is the #49ers biggest need at the moment? (can be for 2026 or beyond)

@Shane_DNRSports Maybe if we were in the A10 you could make that argument. Sunbelt is a bad MBB conference and the highest team NET is 147. 18 wins is actually pretty bad when you take it all in. I wonder how we rank in NIL and facilities vs the rest of the conference though.

People who want better than this year aren't wrong. JMU is well positioned. But it's still important to remember that if 18 wins and above .500 is your down year then this is a golden era. And there aren't going to be many mid-majors going forward that don't have down years.
Dalton Wagner@daltonwag34

@Shane_DNRSports It’s crazy to think how much Mark Byington changed the expectations of MBB. It’s almost as if we’ve forgotten what this program did (or didn’t do) for at least the last 25 other seasons.

@Shane_DNRSports Given his contract, no way he's on the hotseat. At the same time, given the trend of our program under him, no way he'd be a realistic candidate for those places either. 20 wins in a terrible conference isn't perceived well. Heck, Miami is actually great and look at their critics

@JMUSportsNews Problem is, outside those 4, we really don't have much else. In the end, PS has to do a better job in the portal, and that's really all that matters unfortunately.

Retention will be the offseason key for JMU men's basketball. Can the Dukes keep at least 2 of these 4 to build around in 2026-27? - Justin McBride - Preston Fowler - Eddie Ricks - Christian Brown

@Shane_DNRSports @JackKutz155722 @JMU_GoDukes @JMUGameday Have we ever had four 19-win seasons? because the extra one doesn't mean anything. It's an arbitrary bar, that means nothing. Regular season championship is cool, another banner? Doesn't seem to affect program/recruiting/most fans. Dwarfed by tourny championship completely now

@Shane_DNRSports @JackKutz155722 @JMU_GoDukes @JMUGameday It's fair to think that way, but a team being 3-10 away is still pretty awful. Most people already forgot we did well during the regular season last year. It means nothing today. 20 wins just looks like a Brady team that can't win in the tournament, but does the minimum to be ok

@JMUGameday the lazy excuse this season has been “the team sucks, therefore it’s okay for our student section to suck”. but i couldn’t disagree with that more. if the team isn’t performing well, an electric aubc is what could change the story of the season. it makes me upset when i hear that

@Shane_DNRSports Makes you wonder if NDSU will have more leverage for immediate eligibility if that is the case

This thread is a must read for anyone interested in the NCAA eligibility cases. Chambliss' win today means the NCAA has more than antitrust cases to worry about now. NCAA may be violating its contract with members any time a ruling isn't in best interest of an individual athlete.
Eric Blevins@EricJBlevins

A judge is currently reading aloud his ruling in Trinidad Chambliss case. It sounds likely he's going to get another season. This is a big deal, because it could open a new- and easier- legal route for athletes to gain additional seasons. Expect more lawsuits. Quick breakdown: 🧵

@KimreyThinks @murphsturph @StudentYosef Yes, a good example where things aren't the same across states. JMU places any athletic debt service in the athletic fee, I can't speak for North Carolina, but not every state does the same and just places those in general debt service, so the athletic fee is misleading.

@JDTheThree @murphsturph People forget that students pay for capital projects - often athletic facilities - through debt service fees. So when donors get trotted out on the field & thanked for their gift - students are often paying the full debt service on the project & never mentioned. @StudentYosef

@KimreyThinks @murphsturph And JMU student fees pay for more than what other universities consider athletics. Spirit groups, bands, facility maintenance, lighting, etc. can all be put as general expenses for universities. JMU just doesn't lie about it.

@KimreyThinks @murphsturph JMU's student fees aren't apples to apples with App State's, just like the Knight report isn't. For instance, our institutional support is under 2%, App State's in 2022, was 16%. That institutional support is just tuition being rerouted, just not reported as student fees.

@ISmokeEmWet @SteveRodeffer @clNogz It's a relevant time to talk about it because the law might change, but citing Newhouse numbers to say JMU is over 70 percent is inaccurate because of what the Cox Bill does and doesn't consider athletic spending.

So Kyle wanted Mac Jones and not Trey Lance is confirmed by Mac Jones? So why would the 49ers spend all that draft capital on a QB the HC didn't want, and why is that person still in the building?
