@JDale_Shoemaker I agree with a lot of this article, however, the loss of revenue is unrealized gain. The towns don’t currently “make” the revenue today. It’s potential revenue… in the end, when the tax breaks expire the towns will get their pound of flesh.

In many ways, NY's open record law sucks. The @NYSLabor department makes it even worse by demanding you file appeals to delayed/denied requests via US Mail ONLY. They refuse to accept appeals via email. But when they rule on your appeal? They email it to you.

The bulk of the tax break is a massive sales tax exemption on all the chips, servers & other equipment the data center will need. Without the subsidy, those taxes would transform the rural area. The data center, using 500MW of power, could also cause electricity prices to rise
