Very proud to have my novel, Forlorn Harbor, published by @RowanProse . Martina is trapped inside a movie theater as a projector shows a horror anthology. Her companions are sucked into episodes until it’s her turn. All Martina wanted was to fit in—now she may die on celluloid.

Similar books to Forlorn Harbor (FH), w/some differences. October Society: Structurally similar, except FH characters are in the stories. Heart / Chainsaw: Characters aware are "in" a horror "movie." The main characters are different. Hazel Wood: "Lost" media but FH is a horror.

Forlorn Harbor art alert. I've been posting @Artisticknack's "horror posters" of the movie series that never was, Forlorn Harbor. FH is the movie that my book of the same name revolves around. For now, enjoy this collage. More info at: jimdorantales.com (Jim Doran Tales)

My novel, Forlorn Harbor, is coming May 26, and I’m going to recreate my main character, Martina, using different tools. Today, I’ve made a miniature of her using HeroForge.

@Artisticknack and I will be at Halfway to Halloween outside Ann Arbor, Michigan today. This is an amazing show for genre fans. I’ll be selling advanced copies of my new novel, Forlorn Harbor. Come see us. We’ll have more treats (literally) than tricks. Image is from last year.

This wonderful anthology was published yesterday with stories by Pam Halter, Debra Cullins Smith, Stoney M. Setzer, Kathleen Bird, and Michelle Levigne, yours truly, et. al. While I don’t have a review of the offering, I do have a “reflection” blog post. jimdorantales.com/2026/05/02/up-…

This high fantasy retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk is partially from the viewpoint of the Golden Goose. Action, intrigue, and magic fill this wonderful rendition of the famous fairy tale.

I review Transcendence by Katrina Kimball. Ms. Kimball weaves a taut, exciting tale of horror and fantasy together with a finesse most first-time authors can only envy. Transcendence combines the wonder of a fantasy with the darkness of a horror novel. #bookreview

I review The Secret of Blacktree Bridgen by Kat Heckenbach, a MG story of a small town, a dilapidated bridge, and the ghost that haunts it. Or does he? #bookreview

Not all giants must be tall. A “giant” may also may mean someone who is legendary. This is the type of giant in Deborah Cullins Smith’s chilling entry in this Jack and Beanstalk anthology.
