@JGaladePablo 😂 What if the object of my procrastinating are the all the article tabs I have open on my browser? 🤔

When you prefer to read papers? Do you prefer in the morning or towards the end of the day when you’re winding down? Or somewhere in between? I’m wondering when I should schedule it because I seem to never manage to fit it in 🥲

Yesterday I was discussing with a colleague whether I should have “Dr” as part of my name on LinkedIn. I do this on Twitter but not on other platforms…. I wonder what your thoughts are? #AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter

My first grad school project is hot off the press and I could not be more thrilled. Shout-out to all my coworkers who trained me, who joined the lab with an inorganic chemistry background, on everything needed to pull off this work. Also, lets be real, PORPHYRINS are OMNIPOTENT!!

Our newest work from @suritra2904 is out in @ACS_AMI! Check out "NOxPorfin", a Nitric-Oxide activatable porphyrin-based photosensitizer formulation for site-selective tumor-killing application Congrats Suri and team! pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…

@JGaladePablo Thank you so much Julia! This is really reassuring 😭 imposter syndrome really does get the better of me but I suppose academic jobs are less focused on age and more on skills? Unrelated question but where were you in Japan?

Good morning academics in the UK I have a question: What is the academic job market like there? I can imagine it’s awful but *how* bad? I will need to go back to the UK from Japan but I’m worried my degree and experience won’t be enough to land anything and I’m already 30 😬

@octopus_imager Absolutely, and that is part of the problem. If a PDRA is invested in a project and they accept they will not publish small papers for a while, but funding agencies are not funding the project because it hasn't been published, now the PDRA is jobless and the project is over.

Is it worth running a high impact project to achieve a high impact goal even though you will not publish in a while? To me the answer is YES. But funding agencies do not necessarily agree with this. How do we intend to make real scientific discoveries in a short-term system?

Otto Warburg's grant application from 1921 is just one sentence – “I require 10,000 marks” – and it was fully funded.
