After Antietam my ancestor went to a military hospital in Boston. It doesn’t appear he ever returned to his family in Wisconsin. Seems sad.

@BradMossEsq What about “you are appointed for a 9 year term, with one seat coming up every year. And a president/senate could repoint you to an additional 9yr term if they choose.” That would allow a justice to continue to serve if they can demonstrate in a senate hearing they deserve it.
