In many ways, the Jonathan Hatton Jr. recruiting saga is the perfect way to summarize the roller coaster of emotions this last year has been for Oklahoma Sooner fans.
Coming off of the 9th ranked recruiting class in 2024, sliding 7 spots to the 16th ranked in 2025, having a 6-7 season and having 2026's class trending downwards in terms of annual rank, things felt grim. When Jonathan Hatton Jr. flipped his commitment to Texas A&M, I almost felt as though I didn't DESERVE such a prospect.
Well, things certainly have changed, haven't they?
Even prior to the Oklahoma Sooners sitting firmly in a playoff spot (DON'T FUCK ME COMMITTEE) Jonathan Hatton Jr. saw the ship was sailing towards brighter shores, pivoting away from College Station and finding a home in Norman.
Steering away from my dramatization, Hatton is the exact type of running back you'd want. He's absolutely massive and can move like a Mclaren. His HUDL is chock full of long long runs, one of which I have included. However, his strength and motor are another aspect I'd like to draw attention to. Seriously try to imagine your younger cousin who plays HSFB trying to tackle this kid.
