The protesters here at Whitegate refinery have allowed some oil tankers through as a gesture of goodwill. This was done despite the government’s actions earlier today. These are peaceful protesters, and what we’ve seen is a completely unacceptable escalation and a disgraceful use of state-sanctioned violence against the Irish people. The protest is still ongoing and continues to grow as the day goes on.
