Bad parenting causes the lion’s share of the problems public schools experience. Until society gets serious about consequencing parents for the damage they do, the trend will continue.

Some states literally had to pass laws in 2026 just to force schools to give kids 40 minutes of recess. Most U.S. K–5 students still only get 20–30 minutes a day. At Alpha, our K-5 students get 90 minutes of outdoor play daily, plus 2 (3 for younger students) 15-minute brain breaks during our focused 2-hour core learning block.
