Years ago, when I was an NBA writer, I suffered a devastating loss in my life. Jerry West was with Golden State’s front office. I wanted to interview him about something relevant to an article I was writing. The caring Warriors PR man @DoubleR_PR, who set up the interview, knew what I was going through in my world. Jerry and I did the phone interview, but when I was done, Jerry didn’t want to end the call. He told me he’d heard about my loss. Jerry West talked to me for probably 10 minutes about love and life and death. He shared emotions from when he lost someone extremely close to him who was young. We talked about grieving and persevering. It was one of the sweetest, out-of-nowhere things to ever happen to me. Jerry West was an amazing player and an amazing executive, but he was also an amazing human. Rest in peace.

Such behavior undermines our institutions and hampers any hope for progress and improvement in our lives. Rep. Greene's disgraceful conduct during the House hearing against Dr. Anthony Fauci is utterly reprehensible and deserves unequivocal condemnation. Her persistent refusal to address Dr. Fauci by his rightful title, her baseless accusations, and her outright lies are a blatant attempt to undermine a distinguished public servant who has dedicated his life to safeguarding public health. Her shameful denial of Dr. Fauci's medical credentials is not only disrespectful but a deliberate tactic to erode trust in scientific expertise. Greene's outrageous claim that Dr. Fauci's medical license should be revoked is a glaring demonstration of her ignorance and disdain for the rigorous standards of medical practice and ethics. Her unfounded assertion that Dr. Fauci belongs in prison, and her vile accusation of "crimes against humanity" are beyond the pale and border on lunacy. Greene's attacks on Dr. Fauci's scientific recommendations, which were aimed at protecting the public during an unprecedented global pandemic, are nothing short of malevolent. Her baseless claims of financial gain from Big Pharma are a transparent attempt to sow distrust and confusion, devoid of any factual basis. Moreover, her deliberate misrepresentation of Dr. Fauci's email about masks is a deceitful effort to twist the truth to seek attention. This pattern of behavior, rife with lies, disrespect, and a complete disregard for decorum, highlights Greene's unfitness for public office. Her actions are a disgrace to the institution she represents and an affront to the principles of reason and integrity. It is imperative that we hold Greene accountable for her actions and reject her malicious attempts to undermine those who have committed their lives to public service and the betterment of society. We have lost over a million fellow Americans to this virus. Most of these lives could have been saved if not for your vile lies. If anyone deserves to be in prison, it is you.
