This is great from Coach Dusty May… Two things stand out for me - two coaching aspects that relate to philosophies and techniques I introduce to the readers of my new book, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞… 𝟏. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭: Outstanding from Coach May here. Outstanding advice. Players tend to think about a game far too early on game day. Adrenaline gets released too early exhausting supplies. Players should be clear-minded prior to 120-90 minutes before the game. From around 2 hours out - that’s a great time (perhaps optimal) to start getting into game mode. This is something I highlight in my new book, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞, in the chapter on pre-game routine. 2. For me, great team mates are great followers - they talk, they listen, they challenge, they take on board. If you want to be the best player you can be, be a great follower. If you want to create a championship winning team, create great followers.
