Wow … Syracuse is down bad. Get back to the Big East where you belong and then maybe people will care again 🤷🏻‍♂️

BREAKING: South Florida head coach Bryan Hodgson has turned down the Syracuse job, source told @thefieldof68. It’s likely that Hodgson will decide between Providence and staying with the Bulls - who have put together a lucrative financial package similar to what Josh Schertz received at Saint Louis in an attempt to get him to stay in Tampa.

In the article do you compare it all other P4s, Private P4s, P4s with similar records over that time, similar Private and all P4s over the past 45 years? All similar with the move from either no local to regional local to national/streamer era broadcasts? It just feels like a rather small sample size with a team with 5 years of records that are not consistent with the past 50.

I've been tracking 🍊🏀 attendance all year and put the numbers together to see where it ranks historically since the JMA Dome opened. The answer? Not good. And remember, these are announced tickets sold figures. The butts-in-seats count is often much lower. Story ⬇️

@NILnotNLI I think one could argue the cost is a marketing cost and is factored in to actually draw the revenue of tuition and room and board.

The University of Kansas faces a $15 million deficit, recently cut staff, and faculty pay remains among the nation’s lowest. Yet, KU still finds the cash for select athletes' revenue-sharing payouts by using money from the general fund paid by student tuition & state taxpayers!

With the House settlement requiring schools to share $20.5M with athletes, jersey patches are the new "win-win" revenue stream. 🤝 😱 UNLV already secured a $11M deal over 5 years, proving that the "eye-sore" on the shoulder pad might be the only reason your season tickets don’t double in price. Estimated Patch Value (Per Year): Blue Bloods: $6M - $12M Mid-Tier Power Four: $2M - $5M G5 Programs: $500k - $1M Underdogs: $100k

@heitner I agree. But I would then propose it’s removed from the academic aspect of the university and they become employees of a marketing arm of the non-for-profit entity. They are free to negotiate tuition in the contract, along with room and board.

@JK74Cuse I believe that, if you're going to cap athletes' wages (which is what they really are), the cap needs to be negotiated. In a pro model, "eligibility" is negotiated as well.

Louisville argues that college athletics needs a hard spending cap, pointing to the NFL's salary cap as the model. But that comparison undermines the argument. The NFL cap works because it is collectively bargained. The college cap is not. It is imposed. If challenged, it would likely be found to be an unreasonable restraint under antitrust law. Louisville insists the cap "is not a cap on student-athlete earnings." Sure, Jan. The vast majority of college football and basketball players now earn money directly and indirectly through their schools. A cap on institutional spending is a cap on athlete earnings. This is just another weak plea to Congress.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why there's no reason to expand the NCAA tournament. We won't get more worthy mid-majors; just more Power 5 teams that went 9-9 or 7-10 in their conference.

@Sportico @PremierLacrosse Lacrosse would be drastically cheaper at the rec level if we can solve the helmet/equipment challenge. The lifespan of helmets, and they must be safe, is a challenge for almost all rec programs.

Ugh. So all non-wealthy Baltimore suburban kids should just go play sports funded by municipalities while marketing lacrosse leagues profit on the privately funded club structure. Understood Paul. 1980’s Henniger HS won NYS Championship. 1991 Nottingham HS state runner NYS Class B. Decades of West Genny dominance. Even suburban FM in Upstate NY has youth lacrosse where you can borrow helmets. This is justification for the shrinking player pool and interest based on sports specialization and the monetizing of youth sports promoted by the PLL. But Instagram engagement is up!
