I’ve never fully understood in what respect veganism is the morally superior option. Like, is it in an “absolute” sense because animals are sentient beings or that, under capitalism and its farming techniques, eating animals subjects them to (literally) inhumane conditions?

i would never argue with a vegan because they’re making the morally correct decision and i’m not. i don’t have any truly sound way to counter their perspective from a moral standpoint. so i just practice cognitive dissonance and eat my beef and pork and keep my mouth shut.

@anima76 “My angle” only meant what I emphasized when asked y I’d chosen a vegan diet, which was not for its moral superiority to eating meat. Saying that morality was not my angle does not deny veganism is a moral position.

@mascdonna Facts, facts. The issue of morality is seeming to lean more toward “how” we eat than “what” we eat; and I’d definitely agree that’s how we ought to judge the ethics of food.

@JLFlossin I’m also not totally in line with all vegetarians and vegans in that I don’t personally have a problem with hunting or ethical farming, even if I couldn’t kill an animal myself. I’m far more bothered by the factory farming industrial system than “killing bad.”
