Calling a 3x top 3 place winner at NCAAs and two national semifinalists as freshman disappointments is weird. Retherford, Ruth, Taylor, Nolf, Nickal, and Mesenbrink didnt win it their first time around. They turned out OK.

@NoBickal That’s what happens when expectations are extremely high. Duke, Van Ness, and Blaze were disappointing. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

@bleach__Demon @NoBickal SVN lost once all year in SV of the NCAA finals. A lot of high seeds got beaten this tourney. Winning at this level is hard man. Blaze lost 3 matches in the nation's toughest class, and Duke was robbed.

Such a weird feeling to have 4 champs and break the scoring record again but still sad

@Gear5050 @NoBickal Shayne lost once all year...in SV in the NCAA finals. B10 champ, 3x AA and placed top three 3x. People just say whatever to rage bait for engagement lol

@ChadWallace101 @Benaskren If you camp out on the edge of the mat, not engage, and grasp your opponents hands for 5 minutes of the match, youre going to get hit with a stall call. Learn the sport Chad.

@ChadWallace101 @Benaskren There is a difference between initiation of action and a shot. Might want to study the rules before you engage in conversations concerning them. You'll look smarter for it.

@ChadWallace101 @Benaskren He wasn't backing up the whole match like McGowan. There isnt a shot requisite to avoid a stall call. No mention of it exists in the rulebook. McGowan was the more passive wrestler in neutral situations and was rightfully penalized for it. Rudimentary knowledge of the rules.

🚨U23 World Champion🥇Mitchell MESENBRINK (PSU) hits a NASTY outside step (aka GWO step) in his effortless TF victory of Mikey CALIENDO (IOWA) 🔥🤯 Mesenbrink now stands alone - he’s clearly the Hodge Winner this season ‼️

@greentoepalacio Or maybe as a competitor, Mitch understands what it takes to make it to the podium and was extending a gesture of respect for the effort each man on that podium gave to put themselves there. Caliendo wasnt hosed by a bad call. He was beaten clean. Shake on it like a man.

@KnopsKnotes Thats a shame. I always respected Caliendo even as a PSU fan. He never gave off sore loser vibes, handled himself with class, and is the one guy in that lineup who actually wrestles and initiates offense. Guess that ship sailed.

When Mitchell Mesenbrink got to the podium, he went through and shook the hand of the other All-Americans at 165 - all but Mikey Caliendo’s. When Mesenbrink stuck out his hand to the Hawkeye, Caliendo refused to acknowledge him. Mesenbrink shrugged and moved on.

@BBNFL1984 @field253620 @KnopsKnotes @Yuno_Mal Its not a matter of being friends. Mitch extended an act of sportsmanship out of respect for the effort every man on that podium gave to get there. Nobody asked for a sloppy wet kiss but you can reciprocate and shake hands like a man.

@KnopsKnotes @Yuno_Mal Unfortunate. Caliendo seems like a good kid. If PJ could handle his getting screwed yesterday Caliendo should be able to handle getting beat cleanly.
