@Doofgradstudent I tried this model on bobwhite point count data back when getting my PhD. The results were opposite of what you’d expect (was getting high surv and low rec) so I kind of gave up on it. Looking back, I probably didn’t have a long enough time series.

Excited to share our research on Northern Bobwhite from the GAME Lab at UGA! We developed an automated model to detect individual covey calls in acoustic recordings from the field with high levels of precision.

If you have interest in:
- quantitative ecology
- decision making in natural resources
- working directly with agencies to use these tools to implement management
you should apply. James and his lab have a unique combo of quant skills + agency relationships.

@gabbspalomo Rmarkdown does this to me if I’m using file paths. For instance, R runs when “folder/file” but rmarkdown only works with “./folder/file”. Not sure if this is the issue but worth a shot

@gamebirddoc @AbsLawson It being out of your memory is also a kindness

Decided to look over my written comprehensive exams from circa 2015. Thought it would provide closure, esp. now having both PhD + permanent job
It didn't
Whole process was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life and I hate that we still do this to PhD students

@John_D_Clare @howell_pe @mcmc_stan Thanks John, this is helpful. Do you think what we have (bounding N >= n) is sufficient as long as we are getting good estimates for N (i.e., not crazy large), or would we need to bound the upper limit as well? I ask bc the run times are very long w both upper and lower bounds
