It is not just basic etiquette; it should be the standard that we, the people, expect and demand. From my service as Minister for Education, to serving as the Tenth Vice President of our great Republic, and now as I prepare for the presidency, I have remained committed to the belief that education is the surest path to opportunity and dignity. I know this because I am living proof of it. As Education Minister, I abolished corporal punishment in schools, introduced the Higher Education Loans Board, and together with President Mwai Kibaki, laid the foundation for free education. That vision - Vision 2030 and Africa's Agenda 2063 -still guides me today. What Kenyan parents and our children have experienced in the last three years is nothing short of painful and humiliating. Over five hundred thousand students are at home, not because they lack ability or ambition, but because poor decisions have destroyed systems that once worked. This Ruto-instigated tragedy must be corrected, and we shall correct it and #KomboaKenya. Even as we call out those responsible for this failure, we must also recognize leaders who are doing the right thing. Hon. Robert Mbui, Deputy Minority Leader of the National Assembly and MP for Kathiani Constituency, has done commendable work for this school and many others in the constituency, and that deserves recognition.
