A big thanks to @sltrib for running my Op-Ed on entrepreneurship in rural Utah. I firmly believe that rural Utah has a ton of economic potential if we do a better job of supporting entrepreneurship. #utpol buff.ly/2FdelXc

@Nursekatejohn How is 9pm sunshine helpful for young children? They won't go to bed if the sun is still out!! Standard Time is the way to go!

🇺🇸 Name Redacted to Protect the Guilty🇺🇸🙏🏻
Road signs and our driving laws are in English. Have you not been watching the sheer number of crashes by illegals who don’t speak English? Can’t read the road sign? Don’t drive. I didn’t drive in Europe when I didn’t know the laws even though I could read the signs. In April I was hit by an e-bike going more than 20 mph. She ran a red light. Guess what she did not know… English and our laws. Ever break your pelvis?

-88,500 full-time missionaries. -385,000 convert baptisms in 2025. -$1.6 billion in humanitarian expenditures in 2025. Are these vanity metrics? Maybe. But I don’t see vanity metrics. Here’s what I see. I see a church that started in 1830 with 6 people in upstate New York and grew into a global faith of millions. I see Martin Harris, who wagered his fortune on a book that was mocked, only for that book to become one of the most widely distributed and influential religious text published in America. I see Eliza R. Snow, beaten and violated by Missouri mobs for living her faith, and who kept living it anyway. I see faithful Saints in Ghana and Nigeria who kept the faith for decades before the church ever opened operations in their countries. I see women who crossed the country speaking at suffrage rallies, insisting their faith and their voice both mattered. I see the first Utah settlers arriving in a desert with nothing, and turning it into a place to worship and make covenants with God. I see 18 year olds pausing their lives to go among strangers who will likely reject them, because their faith burns hotter than their fear. I see struggling moms and dads at the edge of hopeless, until a relief society president shows up with groceries. I see a new convert who could not deny the promptings that led them into the water. I see families in Chile who spent hours on a bus, some overnight, just to reach the nearest temple, and who wept the day one was finally built close enough to walk to. I see a prophecy fulfilled. I see a stone cut out of the mountain without hands, rolling forth to fill the earth. I see no unhallowed hand stopping the work from progressing. These are the stories inside these vanity metrics. I see a people who have overcome nearly impossible odds for 196 years, and are still standing. Those numbers are a miracle, no matter what you call them.

People are so weird about money. On many occasions, people have told me that, had they played a significant role in a church film, for instance, they would not have accepted money. So, should the church stop paying their accountants? Should BYU professors work for free?

One thing I've learned since moving to St George is that if you go outside and it's hot, it's going to be hot.

Most data centers use the same amount of water—or less—than an average large office building. Meanwhile, they're helping lower electricity costs by financing new power generation. The hysteria over AI data centers is going to age very, very poorly.
POLITICO@politico

NY Gov. Kathy Hochul is enacting the nation’s first state-level moratorium on large-scale data center construction amid concerns over the impact of the facilities meant to support AI. politico.com/news/2026/07/1…

We're reaching the end of an era. This is our last year with our oldest, and every 2-3 years after that, another kid will leave. It goes fast.

It doesn't matter how fast you go or how high you climb. All that really matters is that you do your best to prepare, pray for strength, and put one foot in front of the other.

Too many Christians act like Jesus is their mascot. Too few act like He's their master.

Sometimes I get frustrated with the progress I've made in a week, but when I look at where I was 5 years ago, the difference is stark. Small, consistent changes compound in crazy ways.
