I would say it would be silly for CPI(M) supporters to equate IUML with the BJP. Let me explain the difference:👇🏻 1) IUML is a religious (Muslim) political party and a secular political party because its top leadership vehemently opposes the idea of a theocratic state (Islamic Rashtra). 2) BJP is a religious (North Indian Hindu) political party and a non-secular political party because its top leadership endorses the idea of a theocratic state (Hindu Rashtra). 3) SDPI is a religious (Muslim) political party and a non-secular political party because its top leadership endorses the idea of a theocratic state (Islamic Rashtra). Therefore, it would be prudent for CPI(M) supporters to equate the BJP with the SDPI rather than with the IUML. NOTE: I appreciate the IUML top leadership for its role in promoting communal harmony in Kerala, unlike the BJP and the SDPI.
