🌍 On this #InternationalDayOfCare, we’re highlighting evidence from a J-PAL Policy Insight that shows childcare can be beneficial for women’s economic empowerment: ✨ In 5 of 9 studies, access to childcare increased women’s employment by 5–47% ✨ Childcare helped women be more productive and shift into better jobs. ✨ Where employment effects were limited, barriers like fewer job opportunities and low trust in available care stood in the way. ✨ Other members of the family benefitted too—some fathers, siblings, and grandparents saw higher employment and earnings. 💡 More research is needed to answer open questions related to care for older adults and people with disabilities, and policies to support care workers. 🔎 Read the Insight: bit.ly/4hEcSbK
