It was good to hear from @BMA_JuniorDocs today that the government has also agreed that training numbers will be reviewed with @TheBMA with the aim to increase numbers in the context of bottlenecks (given the planned further expansion of medical school places)! Hopefully soon!

Doctors have been striking for pay restoration for over a year & assuming budgeting for 2% would have been (checks notes) budgeting for another pay cut! #Shameful

Critics of striking medics argue that everyone is suffering at the moment. But doctors & nurses have had it worse. Recent inflation has taken the average UK worker’s real wages 2.5% below their 2009 level, but earnings are down 13% for nurses and 24% (!) for junior doctors.

No contextualising the numbers against the 31.7% pay cut this pay offer doesn’t even go half way to correcting ⬇️. If we can’t afford taxes pay doctors fairly we can’t afford the NHS. #MedTwitter
