#SF9 #About_Love Comeback Live, 260325. Paraphrase! :) I watched it here: youtu.be/Q6TV3FVih1E?si… I'm doing this one a bit differently. It's a paraphrase of their words instead of a summary. I put time stamps in, so you should be able to follow along using these as subtitles (kind of). I'm assuming that FNC will upload the full live with subs at some point, but this should tide you over until then. As always, I marked unclear parts with question marks. Happy Reading and/or watching! Love Comes Slowly Performance 15:50 YB: Hello, Fantasy! IS: Everyone, why don't you give a big cheer once? [Cheering] Thank you! YB: looking up at the top level Can you see okay up there? IS: The house lights are on now so we can see you a bit. JY: You can't see?!? What should we do? YB: We'll just shine more. First, it's nice to see you, Fantasy! How about our members give their greetings? One, two three: To Be Sensation! Hello, We are SF9! [cheering] One by one, starting with Chani CN: Everyone, nice to see you Fantasy. I'm SF9 Maknae (youngest), Chani! Please enjoy today. Thank you! JY: Hello, everyone! I'm Jaeyoon! After a long time, we've prepared a showcase. I hope you have a really fun and enjoyable time. You're ready, aren't you? Let's make today a great time together, everyone! Thank you! IS: Nice to see you everyone, I'm SF9 Inseong! Nice to see you! Actually, gratefully, I met you all two months ago in a mini live (solo album), but the pressure is a bit less doing this with the other members. I don't have to do all the talking by myself anymore. JY: Really, there's no pressure. IS: So, please fill today up a lot, okay? And since it's been awhile for all of us, we might be a bit stiff, but we'll respond together, and little by little, we can make a stage you'll enjoy. Yes! We can do it, right, everyone!? Yes! Thank you. We'll make today fun, thank you. YB: Yes, hello, I'm SF9 Youngbin. Nice to see you! We're very thankful to Fantasy who came here, but SF9's handsome faces are also being broadcast, sent through the camera to global fans, to Fantasy in your rooms, or at work, or in study rooms. We hope you enjoy both our album and our faces. Thank you! Let's have fun today! DW: Hello, I'm Dawon! It's been awhile since we all stood on stage together like this. I'm really nervous! We prepared hard for today, and we'll let you hear a lot of good songs, so please look forward to it. Thank you! HY: Hello, I'm Hwiyoung! Everyone: Have you listened to our album that just came out? [audience: yes] There's nothing weird in it, right? [laughing] It is an album filled with a lot of good songs, so please listen a lot in your daily life, or anytime. We prepared hard for today's mini live too. We'll work hard so we can do well showing what the members prepared. Thank you! YB: First, should we sit and have a short talk for a bit? Someone in the audience shouted they couldn't see. IS: Oh, you can't see--then three of us will sit, and three of us will stand. YB: If you can't see, we'll do it standing. JY: We'll do it standing. The audience said ohhhhhh. YB: Why / What? (Like why are you reacting like that?) IS: Let's go back and forth, or sit and stand. YB: No, I want to show my face! IS: That's a really good idea. JY: Wow, that's really sweet. YB: Actually, everyone: we can stand for up to 3 hours, so don't worry. First we'll give a simple album introduction. It's a difficult, sincere emotion expressed with the simplest, most ordinary word: Love. It's an album related to love. While preparing for this album, I/we had a lot of thoughts about how the meaning of love isn't simple or cliche, but it made me/us really rethink what love (actually) is. Among the members, we prepared with that in mind. For the last ten years, we ran if we ran, and walked slowly if we walked. While spending that time together, this became an album we made while thinking of you. So as you listen, I hope it becomes an album where Fantasy is the main character. So for now, that's the album introduction. But before hearing the stories about preparing the album, I want to do this once: give a big round of applause for our Sanghyuk who has returned after completing military service. Drumroll and cheering JY: Drums! YB: Actually, we know--me, Inseong, and Jaeyoon know how "not easy" this is. And although our member Dawon had his comeback at his fan meeting, should we have him share his thoughts briefly here one more time? DW: I completed my service well and was discharged. Actually, I haven't thought of this (I haven't prepared something to say) but I was discharged well, and I'm living diligently. I'm working out hard, and I will continue to do my best. Thank you very much, everyone! JY: Really, I was the most recent one (to be discharged), so I know that feeling, everyone. You feel a bit shy, so let's embrace him with love, everyone, and help our Sanghyuk shake off that feeling. For me, it took about a year, so it requires a bit of an adjustment period back to civilian life. Anyway, please welcome him with a round of applause. DW: Thank you! YB: Now, should we share some simple stories? Were there any from preparing the album, members? If there were any memorable moments, please share them one at a time. IS: Actually, since this theme is About Love, in the planning stage, they asked us three questions about what we think love is. Everyone, what do you think love is? Audience gives some suggestions. IS: When we received that question, it was really hard to answer, because we only know you all. JY: Right, right. IS: So because of that... JY: Really, really, really...I wanna you (?) IS: Today I talked with my parents, and I love them a lot, but if I'm asked what love is, it's you all. There was a kind of ooooh but very subdued reaction from the crowd. Why are you reacting like that? Didn't you eat? What's wrong? JY: The question is, is your love for Fantasy a bit bigger than love for your parents? IS: That's a hard question. I love my parents, and I love Fantasy. But for this moment, today, I'll stop there. YB/IS: Oh, because (someone) might be watching very closely. JY: That's right, that's right. YB: Personally, while preparing this album, like Inseong said, rather than being fun, it was an album that really made me think. I have always wanted to try a ballad album once. I didn't think it would be at this time, but fortunately, the timing worked out and we were able to release this album. We spent a lot of time preparing it, so it's not an album prepared in a rush. The members probably had many thoughts about love. first, this mini live--it was our intention to let you hear first. Showing is good too, but we wanted you to hear more, and doing this kind of mini live--it's been a long time, right? Since something like O Sole Mio, isn't it almost the first time? JY and IS talk over each other. JY: Go ahead IS: You go ahead JY: Go ahead IS: You go ahead JY: laughing Then I'll dare to speak before hyung IS: Am I that important of a senior? JY: No, really everyone, letting you hear only voice and music like this, it's almost the first time. YB: That's right. JY: Since it's the first time, we also feel it's a bit different. We imagined you all like this and thought about it. Since you came like this, it feels like imagination became reality. Jaeyoon's imagination becomes reality. IS: there's even a movie. JY: Yes, it feels good. Hyung-nim... YB: What were you going to say, Inseong? IS: For the members, "Puzzle" was the last showcase. For me and Youngbin, it was "Trauma," almost like this. Of course, I've done activities, but it's a showcase after five years. So we members seem very nervous. If we ask you all to sing along...there isn't a song you can follow along to yet, right? What's the least you can do? Ah, but maybe that already passed, the first song. JY: "You Think Too Much" or "Last of Us", those "hooooo" parts of those songs, IS: you might be able to roughly follow along. You can do it. JY: You can do it! As much as you love us, your musical ability must have improved a lot. IS: For 10 years you've been doing music with us. JY: So you're our music colleagues, everyone...awkward pause...there's no response audience laughter IS: It's okay, we'll gradually bring up [the energy]. JY: That's our part (responsibility) YB: Because for Fantasy too, it's been awhile, right? Hasn't it? Yes, there are faces we're seeing after a long time. There are Fantasy we've seen during individual activities, but as a group, it's been awhile. As quickly as possible, I hope we can see past this awkwardness. Then first, shall we let you hear another song, and then continue the talk? JY: Let's go!! YB: Then we'll let you hear the next song. JY: OK. Here comes the second song: what song will come out? Fade Into Memories performance IS: Are you enjoying it? JY: We'll go straight into the next song. IS: Let's go! You Think Too Much performance 34:40 IS: This song is low key exciting, isn't it, everyone? Right. Among our songs, if this one builds up a bit, it's a song we can enjoy together. YB: Related to this song, while prepping the album, Teacher Chani said this song would be cool with choreography. It was this song, right? "You Think Too Much?" CN: Ah, yes? YB: Right? CN: When did I say that? JY: You don't remember? CN: It is a song that seems like it would be good with choreography. But not like this (like complicated) just going straight (like standing choreography) JY: Ah, like this showing choreo "Stop thinking too much" CN: Oh, that's good! JY: It's good, right? CN: Now... JY: But it would be better if Chani choreographed it. YB: Everyone, have we loosened up a bit? Yes! Can we be a bit less awkward? Yes We're not awkward, right? JY: If I can add something--what I felt a bit--it's not that it's awkwardy, it's feeling like you're kind of absorbed right now, everyone? Like, into us? Aren't you really like absorbed in this, everyone? IS: Because there are a probably people who came to see us after a long time. It kind of feels like a private listening session. But it seems like both sides are gradually loosening up compared to earlier, right? YB: And while singing just now, what I felt was that today could become a very precious day, because this kind of moment might not come again (I'm not sure what he means by this) audience: no! IS: We can do it, we can! JY: It's that we have to dance, right? YB: SF9 Performance songs. Ah, that's true. Anyway, preparing for this kind of mood today, without having a specified format, we just wanted to talk naturally with all of you. But since there isn't really a format, our younger members get crowded by the older ones and can't talk. Hwiyoung-- HY: Yes? YB: How are you today? Like your condition, etc? HY: Today my condition is really good. It was much better than I thought it would be. Today my condition was really good, definitely more than at rehearsal even, because the fans are here. I think I was a bit more nervous, but as we keep going, I think it's getting a bit better. Also, somehow you all too, seem a bit shy seeing us like this, just staying still. So it's a bit like that. So everyone--Say Ho-oh tips his mic to the audience Audience: Ho-oh! JY laughing HY: Say ho ho ho! Audience: Ho ho ho! HY: Let's loosen up together a bit, since we have today to talk after a long time, and Sanghyuk came too. Since the six of us are doing this, I hope we make it a fun time. And even the neat look suits us a bit too, right everyone? yes! Thank you. YB: Also, everyone, this is SF9's 10th anniversary year. Personally, I'm really curious. I'd like us to share, one by one, each member's first impression (of another member. JY: Based on when? YB: When you first came in as a trainee. For example, Chani and Hwiyoung weren't originally on our team HY: Right, but then it would be a bit much if we do everyone one at a time. So we should do the person next to you. YB: It's this person next to you, or this hyung was like that, or I was like that IS: or Hwiyoung scolded Jaeyoon YB: That's right IS: you got scolded JY: I was in the room, everyone. Sunbae Youngkyun came in IS: and you got scolded (?) JY said something I didn't catch... JY: Hwiyoung, what was your first impression of Sanghyuk? HY: I clearly remember when I first saw Sanghyuk-hyung. On the first day I came in as a trainee, SH hyung was close with this other hyung then, and they came in holding ice cream cones. I saw him getting scolded while coming into the company. He got caught by the trainee trainer noona. She was like, "Where did you get the ice cream?" And he was saying, "Oh, it looked tasty so I bought it." That was my first impression of him. Then, I thought he was about the same age as me, so on that first day, I said to hyung, "If you're going early to get it, could you get one for me too?" YB: You said it like that to him? HY: I remember him being very flustered. That was my first impression. YB: So you had no matters from then already. JY: Youngkyun was a bit bold. HY: That's when I had the least, I remember it too. After that I developed some manners. IS: What was your first impression of him? HY: He looked very gentle. Extremely gentle. IS: Dawon, how was Youngbin? DW: For me, it's better to speak honestly than to lie. IS: Of course, of course. DW: Honestly, I don't remember very well. There really aren't many people who stuck in my memory. Honestly, I think I remember Younkyun. And at that time there were the trainee hyungs who had already been there. IS / YB: Right, right. DW: There were people who had trained for a very long time. Then Youngbin-hyung came in, and after that, probaby me, right? IS: Yes, yes. DW: What I remember about Youngbin-hyung is always that Pigalle hat, you know? IS: Oh, like a bucket hat? DW: At that time, snapbacks were really in style too. that brand, you know those flat snapbacks. He was wearing that, and baggy jeans, and he used to walk all the way to Kimbap Heaven every time. Here was tight (I think he's point out his ankles) and here was really baggy. Youngbin-hyung had his own trainee style. Like a YG-vibe, you know? IS: Like kind of a hip-hop vibe? DW: Exactly. Recently, while I was hanging out with a friend, I saw stuff from trainee days. And back then, all trainees dressed the same. YB: Ah, right, that look. DW: That like, baggy look YB: Right, right. DW: That's what I remember most about Youngbin-hyung. Like a dancer look? IS: right, right DW: He dressed in the street dancer look a lot. IS: I know that vibe. DW: That's what I remember. YB: Right, back then it was like Taeyang Sunbaenim's Ringa Linga. IS: Yes, yes. YB: Those kinds of songs. DW: He was doonga-doonga, ringa linga (I think this is just a silly play on words, or it could be a reference I don't recognize) YB: yeah, I liked that kind of thing. My face is turning red. IS: But then later, among ourselves--it's not NDrive anymore (naver drive, a storage like Google drive)--if we look at the photos from then, we'd probably all think it's funny. YB: Right, and I wore a ton of sleeveless shirts back then. JY: He slept right next to me, everyone. In the trainee dorm. YB: Slept next to you? JY: Yes, we lived together. YB: yes, yes yes JY: We slept in that one room. YB: right, right. JY: The two of us slept on the floor, Back then he wore sleeveless shirts often. I remember Youngbin-hyung going around really hip like that. YB: Don't worry everyone, it's turned around and changed now. Rather than hip-hop, it's Love. I like love. DW: Doing something like hip-hop pigeon would work. IS: for peace YB: that's good. DW: hip hop pigeon. YB: Wow, this story from Dawon really got my blood pumping as all those memories came rushing back. IS: Your stress loosened. YB: Yes, "Why was I like that then?" JY: "Why was my hair like that?" (I'm really not sure about this one, lol) IS: Everyone was kinda like that back then. YB: Anyway, it's a memory. And for me, Inseong, at first...rather than lying, I think it would be better to speak honestly. IS: I'm curious about your first impression of me. YB: First of all, singing, without even needing to say it--he was so, so good. No lie. I strongly thought, "He could debut." So it felt like our team finally got a main vocalist. It was that kind of feeling. I felt like we really needed that kind of refreshingly powerful vocal, and there he was. And also, my impression of his clothes was kind of strong--I have a lot to say about that. This is my personal impression--breaks down laughing IS: You know this is a live broadcast, right? YB: So Inseong had become a trainee, and I guess he wanted to act like one, I guess he wanted to dress well. DW: You know that 칼아트 (carat?) blue t-shirt Inseong-hyung wore IS: What that is, back in trainee days, we had a dance video. There was a time I wore checkered (plaid?) clothes, and I did basic dance. (he made a motion like the chicken dance, kind of? his elbows flapping) I saw it on social media--they put Stray Kids' Miroh song over it and there's a clip of me doing this--don't look it up, I erased it from my memory too--there were clothes like that, mysterious clothes. YB: Inseong came dressed very colorful, in navy, blue, red, all colorful. IS: What was I, some kind of peacock? YB: It had that kind of feeling. The memory was very strong. IS was funny even then. He was funny and he tried to make things fun. IS: Actually, if that's true, maybe I shouldn't have done a singer audition-- YB: that might've been faster. IS: Going to the comedian side? YB: Something you could get in a little more certainly, a little faster. IS: Fashion back then was quite shocking. But JY and I are also same-time-entry colleagues. JY: right, right IS: we actually auditioned on the same day. turns back to YB. Since clothes came up, I have something else to say. DW: Why I am I sweating so much? IS: Right It's a bit hot. YB: We didn't even dance, though? IS: But I normally sweat a lot, so it's hot. Back then, Jaeyoon wore brown camouflage clothes. It hadn't been that long since he came up from Busan. He used to carry around a clutch bag (audience is laughing). That's one of the men's fashions you all like best, right? holding a clutch bag like this DW: camouflage and a military look. JY: Everyone, you aren't listening right now. IS: And on top of that he was wearing Vans shoes. JY: right, right IS: And I used to wear only blue all the time. The two of us always wore the same clothes and even use the practice room together. JY: yes, yes. IS: So I remember that time. I think Jaeyoon used dialect back then. But now it's completely, and those clothes, completely gone now. JY: I burned them all, everyone. The worst? I heard the worst just now, right? The camouflage, at the time was because I came to Seoul, everyone. I had to be a Seoul person, right? So I came with that camouflage and I wanted to show off, somehow. Can I talk about back then? I also went to A-land (korean fashion store). IS: Of course, there's still a lot of A-Land. JY: I used to go to A-Land and things like that. So back then, in my own way, I still tried to dress up. IS: You were cool JY: Back then, there was kind of a country boy feeling, but now I seem like a Seoul person, right everyone? audience was slow to answer JY: It seems a few people didn't answer. DW: So kind... JY: Anyway, mine is my first impression of Chani. Actually, for me, it was him in a school uniform. Back then, I don't know if you know, there was that building called Cheongdam-dong 111, you know it everyone? There was an executive director who was there (?). We always had that meeting at 6 pm. At that time, Chani would go to school and he always came back right at the cutoff time. He had that bowl haircut, holding a notebook; I still remember. It was the summer uniform, wearing that and coming in like, oh, "I'm sorry." (chani impression) IS: That's just like him JY: Really, coming in like, "I'm sorry". I have a really deep memory of baby Chani coming in and checking in like that. IS: right, right, right JY: Back then--even now, he's a baby to us--but then, he really, really seemed like a baby. And then I also saw him dance with Youngkyun during weekly evaluation. I was really surprised. YB: Was it Machine? JY: Machine? YB: Which Machine was it? The title? IS: EXO Sunbaenim-- JY: EXO Sunbaenim Machine IS: They have a song called Machine. DW: What comes to mind when you talk about evaluations...can I say just one thing? JY: Go ahead! DW: right... JY: It's me again? IS: Wait, is it what I'm thinking of? DW: Ah, Jaeyoon-hyung... JY: Are you talking about that? DW: I get a bit embarrassed because I"m shy, but at the company, because you always all sing only ballads, standing and singing, they told us, aren't you going to be dancing singers? So they told us to prepare a dance song next week. IS: right, right DW: Jaeyoon hyung, really ambitiously prepared in the practice room for a week. At this point DW can't stop laughing, and YB is laughing on the side too... IS: Are you crying? DW: He prepared, and when you stand there and get set, they play the song for us. A senior trainee plays the song, Jaeyoon hyung stood exactly like this He stands very seriously and then does a weird little dance with the song lyrics. There was a time when he sang Big Bang Sunbaenims "Bang bang bang once" At this point Jaeyoon is on the ground laughing and YB can't stand still, he's laughing so hard. DW: It was just that compared to the songs Jaeyoon-hyung used to do, it was quite a bit different--completely different. IS: The vibe was different JY: I had a bit of a rebellious spirit. IS: In your own way, you prepared very seriously. Even the outfit. JY: because I'm not the type to prepare carelessly. Still, I wanted to keep doing songs I liked. IS: What I remember from them is the snapbacks JY: Snapbacks didn't suit me. I didn't even wear them. IS: right, right JY: but then after going shopping once, I wore them properly. DW: All that should exist somewhere. In company videos. JY: Probably on FNCs hard disk. YB: Right, right. JY dances the dance DW was describing IS: You danced more, right? Bang, bang, bang? JY dances the bang bang bang choreo JY: It seems like I exist strongly in the members memories of that time, like a photo. I have no regrets, everyone. Back then, the members liked it. IS: It was good, it was good. YB: finally, our chani--talk about your first impression of Youngkyun. CN: first, they say there's no time, so briefly--since the hyungs talked too much-- YB: sorry, sorry IS: Why did you talk so much? CN: I wanted to talk YB: sorry, sorry CN: It seems there's only 10 seconds... all the hyungs: no, no, you can talk CN: Honestly, at first, when Youngkyun was a trainee, a staff member told me that a friend (same age) was joining today. I was sitting on the sofa. Youngkyun came in, and at first, I thought, "That person isn't a friend, he's a hyung." I thought he was a hyung (older). YB: Oh, you thought he was a hyung CN: But Youngkyun said hello, and we became friends right away. JY: Oh, you thought he was a hyung YB: He seemed like a hyung? HY: As you can see looking at past photos, chani looked very cute. I looked a bit mature for my age. I knew who Chani was because I saw him on tV. I remember thinking, "he's a celebrity. That's interesting." But if we talk too much about things only we know, it might not be interesting (he's talking about audience interest) YB: Do you like this kind of thing? HY: Do you like it? audience answers mostly yes HY: There might be people who don't like it. JY: As long as it's not camouflage, it should be fine. It shouldn't just be camouflage. First, we'll let you hear the next song. For this song, we'll sit and sing it briefly. 1/2

#SF9 #DAWON XLive, 260427. Summary. Ok this is kind of different from his usual lives and spaces, but it was a fun one. DW came on and said that he didn't have a lot of time today, but he was going to make simple beef seaweed soup and eat it. He said he was going to add more protein to it. (Basically he has a pouch of beef seaweed soup, but he wants more protein and a few other additional ingredients, so he's doing a kind of semi-homemade thing where he's cooking extra meat, adding some other ingredients / flavors, and then adding the prepared soup to it.) It was too late for him to do much more than cook and eat. He walked us through what he was doing, but not, as he said, "to the level of a cooking broadcast." Anyway, he said he had to do it fast so he could go to bed. He said it would be a little "rough," and he probably wouldn't catch all the comments while he was cooking. As he cooked, he talked about the following things: Turning up the heat. Adding avocado oil. (he added meat to the pot too, although he didn't say anything about it; he shows it later when he puts the camera on the pot while it's cooking.) Adding minced garlic--at it at the end so it doesn't burn and you get the best flavor. Adding water (100ml). Adding oyster sauce, specifically the low sugar kind. He says it goes very well with seafood. (he paused to eat a handful of almonds because he was too hungry to wait for his dinner to be finished) He held up some Bibigo Beef Seaweed Soup in a pouch, which he added to the pot. He said he really likes seaweed soup. He left it to heat up, and showed the rice that he'd already heated up on the side. Adding one piece of seaweed (kelp, I think). (he interrupted his cooking commentary to say that he didn't even dry his hair before coming on the live). He usually removes foam from the top, but today he didn't really have time because he was too hungry. He tasted it and added some salt and pepper. Adding sesame oil, even though it adds to the calories. He lowered the heat and let it simmer to pull out the flavor of the seaweed and extra kelp he added. In the end he decided to pull some of the foam off anyway. He said this kind of cooking when you have no time isn't bad. He moved the camera over to his living area. When he came into the living room with his soup pot, he decided his little table wasn't a good view, so he brought over his ottoman, even though it was a "bit dangerous" (I guess because of possibly spilling on it, since it was white). He said it probably wasn't good table manners, but he was just going to eat comfortably. He said it was hot, and he probably put in too much meat. He turned on his TV to watch something (my transcript picked it up as a show where they're talking about the US convenience store / gas stop chain Buc-ee's, funnily enough...the people are very impressed by how huge it is, clean food and restrooms, etc. etc.) The next several minutes are just him eating his soup! He says a few things while he's eating: He knows we can't see what he's watching. He says he'll eat and then talk a bit, even if it's just for a little bit. He comments on how delicious his soup is. He wanted to know if Buc-ee's was famous (it is! Your bandmates went there on the US tour!) They were talking about brisket and burgers at Bucc-ee's and they must've showed some BBQ on the screen because he said, "Meat? I want to eat some." They showed some fruit and he made a face like "eww" and said "Fruit doesn't taste good." (I don't know if he was referring to the fruit on the screen or fruit in general...) In the show, they were talking about store brands at Bucc-ee's, and DW said that store brands have to have good quality to be competitive. He gave Costco's Kirkland brand as an example, saying that they used to be kind of all over the place, but they consolidated under that one label and now it's better. He said brands like E-Mart in Korea have the done same thing, and benefited from it. He apologized for the noise of his spoon against the metal pot. They were showing the ton of beverage selections at Bucc-ee's, and he said he thought the drink Americans drink the most is a machiatto? (I think?) He said that someone said that the sugar Americans consume in the morning is like several sugar cubes. It's one of the countries that consume a ton of sugar. (The Bucc-ee's people are super excited about the brisket burgers lol) He finished his soup and showed his empty pot, then took it into the kitchen to wash it. He turned off the TV, showed some dark chocolate he was going to eat, and turned the music back on. He said it was Lindt chocolate, he showed 100% and 92%. Someone asked if it was ok to eat this late, he started to answer and then the recording skipped a bit; He said something about 2 hours. He said it was his first proper meal of the day (I think?) People must've commented that the live was glitching, because he talked for a bit about maybe how to fix it. He brought out his pillow to change the pillowcase. He said he did laundry before going out. He tries to wash his pillowcase once every five days since he rubs his face there when he sleeps and he has face oil to think about, so he washes it often. He also uses disinfecting spray. He said the food was good. He didn't cut his hair. He really likes seaweed soup. It's healthy and cheap. He's a bit tired, but he does like talking like this for a little bit. He said he might make seaweed soup for fans. Beef seaweed soup though; he doesn't like putting seafood in it. "Please take note, everyone: I don't like seafood." Chicken breast and seaweed soup--that's what he likes. Lol he said if you give him seaweed soup, he could marry you. Or you could just raise him. If marriage isn't it, then raise him, and he'll make it fun for you every day. He started saying goodbye because he was tired. He's going to head to sleep, rest a bit, have some personal time, and then go to sleep. He fixed his bangs over his forehead, because he says fans like that, and then did a bit of kissy facing at the camera and said goodbye!

#SF9 #Youngbin YT Live, 260425, "Goodbye Bin HaeRang." Part 2 of 2. Link to watch here: youtube.com/live/wroF_1pE0… Up to this point in the live, fans have been posting questions and he's been answering them, mostly about his first experience as a musical actor and his plans for the future. This paraphrase picks up at about 32:05. Q: If you do another musical, what genre would you want to try? there are a lot of things he wants to try. He mentioned one that Jaeyoon did that he'd like to try (he said 창업인가요, which means Start Up, which is a musical, but I don't think it's one Jaeyoon was in...so if you know what he's referring to, please comment!) He wants to do something slice-of-life. (Like everyday life based plots). Q: I'm curious about your vocal technique. He says his current vocalization (way of speaking) is slightly changed. He tried to speak like he used to, and he let his voice get a bit softer and a little raspier and said "I used to speak kind of like this." Then he asked if you could hear the difference. He played around with it a bit more, saying the other members' names in the old way. He says the old way is like 80% breath mixed in. When he used to go on radio shows, it was a bit scary. He'd talk like that, with the DJs and guests, and if something was funny, he'd laugh and talk, and his voice would get hoarse. When he talked in the old way, he'd lose his voice easily, so he got really anxious and nervous. But when he changed his way of speaking, it minimized the strain on his vocal cords. He's not adding as much force, so it's gotten a lot better. He thinks he'd like to teach that vocal method, but he isn't really in a place right now to do that, but he's grateful for the teaching he received. At that point he laughed really loud, and started telling a story he thought was funny. (OMG he has the most incredible smile and laugh 😍) He did a fan meeting two years ago and sang a lot. His older brother lived in Jongno, and he would meet him sometimes and have a drink. At one of those meetings, he started telling him about vocalization techniques, and getting all technical about it, telling him, "If you do it like this it's better," like trying to teach him. YB was laughing like, "who am I to teach him?" Anyway, they were eating outside at a restaurant, and there weren't many people around. It was kind of secluded, just the two of them, and he started saying, "Hyung, make it sound like this!" and then his brother would try it, and just now, YB remembered that and laughed (and told us this story). Anyway, it seems like time is really flying. Before he knew it, it's almost May 2026 and he's been doing this musical for six months, December to April, and he can't even believe it passed by. Last year he went to Japan for Kingdom, came back to Korea, and did his first cast meeting. After that, he went straight into rehearsals--maybe three days between. Then it was practices, preparing, performing...and it's already May. (He paused here to explain the term he used for that first meeting). He said they first met it was really cold back then during practices, and now it's hot. He said a lot of people came from overseas to watch "Secretly, Greatly": from Japan, Germany, the US, Singapore--he was very very thankful. He worried that they didn't understand what was being said in the play, but he hoped though his emotions, the sound and music, they all enjoyed it. It made him feel like art has no boundaries. And of course, he's also very very thankful to Fantasy in Korea. In the end, his acting was really meaningful. In a way, it feels like a new beginning, and he wants to challenge himself more. After all, art has no boundaries--if you paint, sing, act, are an artist. Even babies can compose, even if they can't meet accepted standards, but everyone starts somewhere, and it's the intent that matters, so he wasn't really afraid. Rather than thinking "Can I do it?" he thought more, "Am I ready to do it?" Because after all, does anyone do well from the beginning? You have to do it, and learn as you go. Q: Ramen? He really likes ramen, but it's been quite a long time since he's eaten it. His skin hasn't been good lately. He attributes it to the change in seasons, because this tends to happen every year. He has breakouts when he eats instant or greasy food too, but the seasonal changes make it happen too. He does eat greasy food once in awhile, but he really restrains himself, and it helps. Q: If you were reborn, what kind of person would you want to be? He'd want to be someone who teaches, or a producer. The reason he wanted to become a singer was simple: he simply wanted to. He was a bit cocky then; he thought he could do it. He thought he'd be successful. He thought he was the best. He called it a "a really big, baseless arrogance." Back then, he really approached being an idol with that kind of mindset. But after leaving high school, turning 20, seeing the world more clearly, that kind of mindset no longer made sense. (As he saw talented people perform), he started to wonder, "How do people like this even exist?" Seeing Inseong, he was like "What!?! You--why are you so good??" But he thinks the arrogance he had is the beginning of it all. It's not really thinking that its easy, but the approach is really simple. It's like, you come up against walls, and you just want to break them. You get to one and say, "What is this wall? Is there someone actually better than ME? No way!" YB had that feeling, strongly since high school, when he was practicing really hard. So now, thinking about what he'd like to be if reborn, when he says he'd want to be a producer or a teacher, it's not because those jobs seem easy. It's more that by having that kind of arrogant or careless approach, he thinks he could do it well. He has that baseless confidence imagining those things. He thinks he'd be a good producer. At that point the chat must've been a bit of a free-for-all, because he started saying things like, "what, are you just saying what you want to say, and not listening to me?" He was teasing Fantasy that they were just saying, "Read my question! Read my question!" and not really paying attention. He said, ok, fine, let's see who's really listening. "Send a comment if you're listening!" and did a kind of roll call like that. He teased, "If I'm talking this hard, and you're just listening and not even watching my face, then why should I do a face showing live? Should I just do voice only?" And then he said fine, I'll do more of those. (but he was mostly teasing.) And then he got a big smile, commenting on all the comments coming in, satisfied that fans were actually actively listening to him. Q. What other musicals do you want to see?" There are a lot, but suddenly he couldn't think of any. Mostly he just wants to spend some time with musical actors, the ones who are real masters. Of course the hyungs he worked with on "Secretly, Greatly" are also great, but he's craving for getting more of the valuable things you learn from talking with more experienced actors. Q. Nabillera? (this is the play Jaeyoon was doing). He really wants to see it. Then he said, "Oh, was that question a setup for asking if I want to see Nabillera?" He said he's waiting until it comes to his region (This confused me--was Jaeyoon just doing a short run, right? And he's done now? So the play isn't active in Seoul anymore?) He also mentioned a play Neil was doing, and Death Note, he really wants to see it. Q. It's like a rabbit is doing a live. Yes, that's right. A Rabbit is doing a live. A German fantasy must've commented that they came to see him in the play, and he said thank you, German Fantasy, thank you. Q: Now that you have time, will you film Reels? He says if there's a fun one, he'll try filming them. He may not follow trends, but if he sees something fun, he will. A fantasy must've commented on allergies, because he said he has them bad too. He took a lot of photos but they're not organized, so he's a bit concerned about getting them in order. He asked people to not call him Youngbin-ssi or Youngbin-nim. Don't say, "Youngbin-ssi, you're so handsome!" Instead, just leave that out. It feels too distant. "Hey Youngbin" feels like he became an AI (lol what??) so just "Youngbin" or "Youngbin oppa" is best. Even Kim Youngbin is better, although it's not very affectionate. "Ya, Kim Youngbin!" or "My Youngbin" is cute. then he pointed out a specific username who called him Samchon (uncle) and said to them, "please leave. Isn't it time for you to sleep? Right now, the children should be sleeping." Then someone called him ahjussi, and he said, "Anyone calling me ahjussi needs to sleep now. You need to grow taller. Hurry." Then someone said they couldn't sleep--they're high school fantasy and it's exam period. At that point, he wanted to know something from high school fantasy. The chat must've been flooded with comments like, "I'm in high school too!!" (omg a bunch of liars, we are haha). And then someone must've said they're a grandma, because he said, "Grandma, wait a bit. Ill ask grandma a question later." He said, "Friends under 20: When you talk about me with your friends, what term do you use? Mister (ahjussi)? Uncle (samchon)? or Big brother / romantic interest older guy (oppa)? He's curious, although it doesn't matter what fans call him, he just wants to know. After seeing all the comments, when some said things like "old man" or "ahjussi," he wondered if they'd actually call him that to his face. Then he said, people like Gong Yoo sunbaenim (actor), you'd call him Oppa, right? He revealed that back early in his career he wanted to be like Gong Yoo sunbaenim. He wanted to become like him, have his kind of vibe. He said it's really nice--sometimes like an iced Americano, sometimes like a hot Americano, sometimes like a very sweet cafe latte, and other times just like milk--Gong Yoo Sunbaenim is just like that. There must've been some interesting things happening in the chat, because he asked people not to post words they didnt want him to actually say, because it put him in an awkward situation. And then someone posted some type of slang he didn't understand, so he asked about that. Q: what's different between singing vocalization and musical vocalization? He thinks when doing a musical, it's more like adding pitch to speaking, and the articulation is more intense. He gave some examples. At that point, he started finishing up. He reminded everyone that it was his last performance of Secretly, Greatly today, and he did this live as a kind of closing, wrap-up talk. It still doesn't feel real, like he has to go back next week and perform more. He said during the play's run, he held back on talking about it with us, because he was afraid it would break his focus on the work or end up being a spoiler. He thinks when it finally does hit him that's over, it won't feel bittersweet, he'll just be sad. He said he'll fall into his feelings alone at home, but if he feels lonely next week, he'll come back with another live. Q. What thought did you have when you messed up a line? Just, "This is bad." then he told a "legendary line mistake incident." He described the lines he and another character had. Then he told what happened: He made the mistake in the line, then tried to correct himself, and then his mind went blank, and it was like the whole world shook. But things like that happen, and in the end it didn't lessen the fun. He said it was an honor to take part in the 10th anniversary performance of Secretly, Greatly. He wrapped it up well, finishing without sickness or injury. He plans to do even better moving forward. He's going to wash up and rest, because he's always a bit tired on performance days. To all Fantasy who watched him perform, he says, "thank you so, so much. Thanks to you all, I was happy." He mentioned what he had for dinner: gyukatsu, and then said goodbye. #SF9 #Youngbin YT Live, 260425, "Goodbye Bin HaeRang." Part 1 of 2. He is so sweet--we haven't had an earnest, heartfelt Youngbin live like this in forever There are two parts of the live (one cut off). I'll link as I go. First live (3+ minutes): youtube.com/live/j6sLY4nCz… He came on doing lip trills (vocal warm-ups) and said hello. He adjusted the look of the live--framing, lighting, etc. He just finished his last Secretly, Greatly performance, ate dinner, came to the company, and turned on the live. Someone in the comments said, "It's dangerous to ski on Youngbin's nose bridge." (Meaning that his nose is steep and straight). He replied very seriously, "Beginners shouldn't come up here. This is a top-level section, so yes, please go down, beginners." Someone in the comments did a play on words that he read: It's a high level course "aju ko-gup kkosumnida." (ko is the way nose sounds in korean). He said he was in a meeting room. He wasn't planning to turn on the air conditioner. Then he had some trouble with the reception and the live cut off. Second live, 1 hr 15 min (I only did the first 35 min in this post) youtube.com/live/wroF_1pE0… When he came back on, he said he turned off the wifi to try to fix the connection issues and cut himself off. He ended up turning on the overhead light because he thought it looked better. He said it was nice to see everyone again. He said "I'm Youngbin who just finished the Secretly, Greatly performance. The last performance." He thought today was the day he should've had his best performance, but actually, he can't really remember it. He almost never remembers his performances. It's like magic, how he doesn't remember. There was an ad-lib in today's performance that was funny, though. (he explained it, but I haven't seen any clips so I'm not sure if this interpretation is correct--did Chayoung (sp?) hyung rap part of Youngbin's Love Race part? it sounded like maybe--YB said that the audience reaction was really good.) Anyway, YB says that when the performance is over, those kinds of audience reactions make the play feel more lively, they "make it more vivid and breathe life into it." Essentially, every time audience reactions are good, YB gets strength from it as he performs. He doesn't want to ask people to react--that seems forced--but he tries to make it so everyone can laugh on their own, laugh because it's fun. But today, the audience reactions were so good, so excited, that it really fueled his performance. Q: What do you like about the new album? He said that he'd save album talk for another live. Q: What changed over time about your performance of Ri HaeRang, emotionally speaking? He said there wasn't a big evolution of his interpretation of the character emotionally, but there were some parts where he changed a bit. He gave a detailed example of a section at the beginning of Act 2, where he first performed it with a lot of seriousness, but as he began to better understand the character, he changed it to be lighter. He felt like it was more true to the character, so his delivery of those lines gradually changed. Q: What part of the character seeped into your personality? He says that these days, he doesn't think that deeply. In the past, his thoughts would be very ordered, one after the other, very deep, and it was dificult for him to even speak sometimes, to just spontaneously say things. But these days, if he has trouble speaking, it's because he's so much more the opposite--just saying what he thinks. So it's not really that Ri Haerang is like that, per se, it's more that he's acquired the character's lightness, his freedom. Q: Did you feel scared when Haerang falls at the end? Yes, he did! It wasn't that high, and it wasn't danger either, but of course injuries are still possible (one in fact happened with another actor). But fortunately he didn't get injured, even though it could be dangerous. But he wasn't that scared. Q: Was it hard to change to a musical-type vocal technique? It wasn't a character where vocal technique was all that important. The character was very free, and since he's that kind of person, it's not that important to portray him through a specific kind of vocal style. He doesn't have to sing in just one way; he's not a fixed idea kind of character. That turned out to be fortunate for YB as his portrayer, because other characters (Haejin and Wonryuhan specifically) have a unique vocal style that has some weight. But YB thinks his performance was fine. Q: If you get another opportunity, will you challenge yourself with a musical again? Yes, of course he will. If the timing fits, or even if it has to overlap with promotions and he can do it without stretching himself too thin, then he will. He's the type who wants to do as much as possible. Plays, musicals, any are good, because each one is another big challenge. And now that he's done it once, he wants to "know it deeply." He wants to "dig deeper and understand more deeply." He liked it best when the three characters performed together. He mentioned two songs: Laundry and Pyeongpyeong. Q: What was your first thought when you learned you got the part? He was in the US when he found out, so he first told IS and JY, "I think I'm going to do a musical." But he hadn't started practice yet and so it all seemed a little vague, like he was pretty sure he could do it but had no real sense of it yet. But gradually, as he practiced and the time passed, he got deeply into it. YTY made a lot of time for him. They practiced together separately in the practice room. Q: You turned that vagueness into reality? that's right. Up to that point it didn't feel real. But somehow, he performed for three months without getting sick or hurt, not missing a single day. That's something he feels really proud of himself for doing. Now that it's done, he's not quite sure how he managed to do it. Q: If you were told to go back and do it again, would you be scared? "even if that were the case, I think I would take on the challenge." Q: Favorite sport? Basketball. (There was another little question here about aegyo, but I didn't completely understand it; I'm not sure if it was about the play or something else). Q: Before going onstage, what do you do to lower tension (nervousness / stress)? He thoroughly warms up his voice, loosens up as much as possible. Matinees are particularly difficult. Today his condition was quite good, but he used propolis (throat spray) and it went down wrong. He pointed to his diaphragm and said "this part feels a bit blocked still." He says he must've gone too deep or too much, because he was coughing all day. He said someone bought the coffee he was drinking for him. Q: SF9 concert vs. one performance of Secretly, Greatly? There's no comparison. An SF9 concert is much bigger for him. For this musical, it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been in SF9 in the first place. If he had to choose, he'd do an SF9 performance; that's much more fun. Because musicals are "a fight on your own," it gets quite lonely. But in SF9, he has the members with him, so he feels more at ease. Q: Did you take good care of your ensemble friends? He said, "Me?!? I never took care of them; they took care of me." Q: SF9 concert vs. one musical performance question was about which was more difficult to do. Musicals are harder. Physically more difficult, since you're fighting by yourself. Q: I watched Secretly, Greatly twice and cried both times. "Thank you. It seems like you were immersed." Q: more on the ensemble friends? He thinks they must've spoken well again. He put his fingertips just a few centimeters apart and said he only had that much space in his heart to take care of others. The ensemble friends covered it (his heart) like "this," and he widened his fingers to a few inches, the size of his heart. They're younger than him, but they're actor seniors, so he learned a lot from them. He'd like to keep doing musicals continuously, if he gets the chance to audition Q: Did you really take a selfie onstage? No, the phone didn't turn on. Q: Is the Yakult real? (Yakult is a probiotic drink; I'm assuming his character drinks it onstage). He did actually drink it. But it's not exactly smooth; his vocal cords "get a bit sticky." It's like it doesn't fully go down, feels like it's kind of caught in his throat, and he has to sing right after drinking it. It feels like that gets in his way, so he doesn't really want to drink it, but his performance calls for it, so he has no choice. Still, he liked the sound it made through the mic when he finished it, so he forced himself to drink it all. At that point he stepped away for a minute. He said his voice was a bit hoarse and it's a bit disappointing, but he still had to do the performance anyway. He quit caffeine, alcohol, and spicy food during the musical run, almost completely. He might have one drink or coffee after a performance, or if there was a long break between performances. He really wanted to eat spicy food, but it's bad for his throat, along with alcohol and caffeine. He wanted them, but he held back. Now that the musical is over, he's not planning to go overboard. While he's adjusted to not having them, he's going to be moderate and control himself. In the end, he felt it was good to become more healthy. Q: Other than Haerang, is there a character you'd want to play? For this musical, he'd like to play the part of the youngest, Haejin. He sang a bit from a line from one of the songs (he couldn't remember all the lyrics). But He wanted to try playing that, the youngest-member moment. When he watches the other actors play that part, he thinks about how he might reinterpret the character for himself. There's a part at the end he thought of specifically, and he explained how he'd try to portray it as if he's holding down emotions, and he's kind of disappointed that he didn't have the chance to do it. He thinks it would be fun if he could do a musical with the SF9 members too, like him, Jaeyoon, and Inseong together. He talked about seeing Hweseung and Jaejin doing a musical together as brothers, and thought it was fun. (I don't know who these people are, so the spelling might be off). He decided not to talk about that anymore because he didn't want Fantasy to fall for them haha Q: Does life as Youngbin feel ordinary now? No, his life is absolutely not ordinary. His life is very special and sparkling. He always says, when he stands onstage he sometimes feels the pressure from the audience, because he feels such a weight on himself to do well. But in the end, it's really something incredible. Standing alone in the middle of the stage, in front of so many people, the audience giving their time and their focus to you, the lighting, the staging, getting all that attention and love, even applause at the end--that life can never be ordinary. Later, when he gets much older, when it comes time to die, because we all do eventually, he thinks he'll have a lingering attachment to this job, the lingering thought and feeling that "I wanted to shine a bit more, just a bit more." He thinks that feeling will stay with him because it was that special, that precious. Someone said, "Don't die," and he said he won't die now. But humans eventually--and then he cut himself off. He said all the actors tried to be strength for him. They didn't focus on teaching him, but they tried to help him empathize, and beyond this, how to develop the right mindset as an actor, to understand what's necessary to do when you're acting. A lot of them offered advice, and many cheered him on openly, especially Seong Jaeyong and Niel. There were times when YB felt that practice had gone so poorly that he felt apologetic; he couldn't find his direction. He'd get critical of himself, saying "Why am I so bad at this?" But then Seong Jaeyoung and Niel came at just the right time and told him, "You're doing well. Where is it wrong? You're doing really good." They were straightforward like that, and he was so thankful to all of them and the other actors, too. He thanked some of the other actors and crew by name as well. YB ended this section by saying, even if he can't repay it fully, he'll also become a good senior someday, and pass on that kind of positive influence to his juniors, too. I'm going to pause here and come back later to finish the rest. I stopped at about ; a bit under halfway through.
