I pay $1,138.00 per month for my wife and I with a $6,000. deductible each, $10,000 max out of pocket per year means we pay $23,000 before insurance kicks in.

Ok. Take government completely out of healthcare. No rules. No laws. No Medicare. No Medicaid. Hospitals, insurance companies, can do anything they want. What do they do ? If you were running any of the biggest insurance companies or hospitals, what would you do differently once gov was completely out of healthcare ?

@saylordocs Many years ago, with rumors of social security depleting over time we decided to create our own version of it as part of our plan. We cannot rely on this in the future and if we end up getting social security in the future it will simply be a bonus added to what we created.

The max one can pay into social security per year is $10,453.20.
If you did that every year from age 18 until retirement, the max you’ll get from SS is $4,873 /month.
If you put it into an S&P index fund instead, you would receive $32,583 per month.
Social Security is a scam.

I see an item for purchase, and I don't think, "Can I afford this?" I think how much dividend income could the item I'm considering produce over a lifetime if I buy stock instead.
