@NYRLouie Kent Johnson & Mason Mctavish would be a dream. Also with shesterkin aging already 30 for a rumored 2nd round pick + low end prospect wouldn’t mind to see Cossa.

Braden Schneider is a top 4 RHD now that would play sizable minutes and is better then lyubushkin, EJ Emery is a top 6 dman possibly top 4 that is cap friendly for the next 5 years, Malcolm Spence is a middle/bottom 6 winger in 28. Agreed on the win now but stars hold one of the thinnest pools in the league a 2027 1st-round pick (top-10 protected), a 2028 2nd-round pick, and a 2028 4th-round pick could help to replenish that while remaining competitive. Plus the cap space gives them the flexibility.

@JSeltzer @NYRangers @DallasStars This is a very weak package for Dallas. No way Nill accepts this. Dallas is in win now. Not interested in futures package especially a weak on built around an average D. Nothing in there to even replace Robo.

A @NYRangers Armchair GM Thread 🧵 What I think the Rangers should do this offseason to build a true Stanley Cup contender for the next 10 years. From trades and draft targets to roster construction and long-term cap planning. Let’s get into it.

Overview: The goal here wasn’t to keep the Rangers barely competitive for another 2-3 years. The goal was to build a sustainable Stanley Cup contender for the next decade. This roster gets younger, faster, bigger, deeper at center, and significantly stronger long term while still keeping elite cornerstone pieces like Shesterkin, Fox, Lafreniere, Perreault, and now Jason Robertson. The organization adds:
• Multiple high-upside centers
• Additional first-round picks
• A deeper prospect pipeline
• More cap flexibility
• A stronger playoff identity
• Better long-term roster balance There’s definitely risk involved relying on younger players and projections, but the ceiling of this core is far higher than continuing to run back an aging roster with limited flexibility. Instead of building around short-term survival, this version of the Rangers is built around sustained contention.

Gavrikov – Fox Perfect pairing stylistically. Fox gets the defensive insulation he needs while still having freedom offensively. Gavrikov is exactly the type of partner Fox thrives beside. Fortescue – Morrow Boom-or-bust pair but extremely fun. Morrow brings elite offensive instincts. Fortescue stabilizes things defensively. Could become a true modern second pair if Morrow adjusts defensively at NHL pace. Lambos – Ceulemans Sneaky interesting pairing. Both can skate and move pucks. Ceulemans especially could thrive in sheltered third-pair minutes with offensive-zone usage. Biggest concern here is defensive consistency. Young defense groups usually struggle early. Extra: Borgen The roster needs at least one stable veteran defensive presence outside Gavrikov/Fox who can step in for injuries or poor defensive play from a younger player. Shesterkin Still the foundation. If Igor is elite, this roster can outperform expectations quickly. Garand Good timing for him to transition into the backup role. Fits the younger timeline.
