When you share a contact, you share a vcard file. What if you had a vcard file for objects in your collection? So, cataloging the object simply involves loading the vcard to your database. I wrote some words on #datamanagement in collections jtrobinette.com/opus-cultura/d…

@porchrates I agree and often wonder if lack of funding for professional development in the humanities (I’m thinking museums) leads to the slow turnover of ideas. IE museums are slow to adapt. Generalizations, of course.

Also please please please make it a heritage sector server and NOT just a museum one because it alienates so many of us (freelancers, archaeologists, emerging professionals/students, anyone not tied to an institution). If you go museum heavy please try to be inclusive! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Every other post on museum/gallery social media talks about how toxic the work environment is. Protests, bans, complaints I want to know who has created a good culture. I know that too is debatable, but surely someone must be happy because the industry continues to exist.
