Word that’s making me smile today: pretzel-bender. It’s a multi-purpose bit of mid 20th century American slang that can mean, among other things, an odd person, a wrestler, or a French horn player.

Word that’s making me smile today: hanami. It’s an untranslatable Japanese word for enjoying the ephemeral beauty of flowers, particularly cherry blossoms.

@JThomasABC Ooh, I bet it would apply to the sound of rain on the metal barn roof, as I was inside with all the warm cattle and sweet alfalfa smells.

Word that’s making me smile today: clagarnach. It’s an untranslatable Irish word that literally means “clattering,” for the strangely comforting sound of heavy rain hitting the rooftop or windows when you are cozy inside.
