Eliongema Udofia (@obongemem_001) has won the 2026 Joe Ushie Poetry Prize with his riveting piece, "Sisyphus." Mr Udofia beat Chijioke Michael Enechi ("Tough Love: Memories") and Jewo Oghenetega ("Endangered Specie") to clinch the $500 USD award. The announcement was made today by Prof. Rome Aboh (head of the judging panel) at the award ceremony. In attendance at the ceremony were the Dean of Arts of the University of Uyo, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, the Honourable Commissioner for Edhcation of Akwa Ibom State, an honourable Justice of the Appeals Court, and other stakeholders in the education sector.
