@JVSwaps My motivation and discussion around everything with this team has consistently been for me to push for moves that I believe directionally move them closer to a SB victory. That is how I approach everything I believe and advocate for. That progression is not always linear.

To put my official stance out there ahead of training camp... I think is more likely than not that JJ is not quite ready to win the starting job and his best path for success will likely be elsewhere. That being said, I don't think Kyler is the savior QB. 1/2

@NicholasMMiller I think you need to do some soul searching if you're seriously questioning the merits of both improving as a team and winning in the postseason...

@JVSwaps Depends on the outcome in the offseason. Does that help us secure a better QB next offseason? Or more easily get one in the draft?

@NicholasMMiller You don't have to believe the team is close to acknowledge that a significant jump in QB performance will be impactful!

@JVSwaps I’m open to any path that gets us closer to a SB. If that comes through a wild card win, great, if that comes from a collapse and a rebuild, great. But I’m not a fan of thinking we are close when I don’t believe we are just because it makes us feel good.

@NicholasMMiller Not automatically, but it certainly could. It obviously tells us more than missing the playoffs would. Everyone wants a Super Bowl but that doesn't mean that any progress that falls short of a ring is useless.

@NicholasMMiller Predicting that a team won't win the Super Bowl isn't compelling to me. We don't even know if this core/coaching staff is capable of winning in the postseason! Proving that should give optimism that they could at least build on that success.

@JVSwaps I don’t know that average QB play is going to get multiple playoff wins this year unless our run game is significantly improved and we are actually committed to using it

@Krauserrific You think this is a hate campaign? You won't understand a team if you don't have the appropriate context. This Vikings organization has a lot to prove from top to bottom this year. Pressure + expectations aren't bad if the right people are in place. It's the story of the season.

@Krauserrific "As long as they're competitive" is still a significant bar to clear. There are a lot of head coaches with reputations good enough to survive a bad season. It's noteworthy that KO is no longer in that boat.

@JVSwaps well of course nothing’s guaranteed if 2026 is a disaster (4-13, loses the locker room, etc), KOC might not even survive the year but as long as they’re competitive, I think he’s a lock to be back in ‘27, even without a playoff win

@NicholasMMiller They had the worst QB play in the NFL last season and barely missed the playoffs. A top 3 pick simply isn't in the cards for a KO/Flo team. Going from horrible to average at QB could actually be very impactful for a staff looking for their first(!) playoff win.

I think it's most likely that the team continues to get middling QB play no matter who is starting and an early exit from the playoffs is near best case scenario. They will likely be back in the QB search next offseason but the middling success they have will limit draft options

Best case scenario for the Vikings is that J.J. McCarthy wins the QB1 job and if you disagree you are just a hater. Will that happen? Probably not, but we should be rooting for that.
