I recently had the opportunity to speak at @IAWF in Boise ID, where I presented my research and joined the keynote panel on the 2023 Fire Season as well as @BCFireSmart Prince George, BC. Great to meet so many passionate and interesting people working towards a similar goal.

@ryankatzrosene Great. Thank you for answering. The "managed forest" qualifier is what was confusing me. You also beat me to the next question which was about difference in the Guardian Interview. Thanks

@BCFireJames Basically comes down to whatever methodology NRCAN is using vs the satellite-based and vegetation model that Copernicus uses. (Note in tweet below NRCAN values are for managed forests only, compared to Copernicus’ full Canada area)
Prof. Ryan Katz-Rosene@ryankatzrosene

@bataille_chris Here's a comparison of the two datasets. Not sure what's going on in 2018. Suffice it to say the NRCAN methodology and the Copernicus Carbon Emissions assumptions are quite different!

@nplareau I don't have pics, but just heard multiple reports of spots across the lake.

If you’re on the east side of Lake Okanaga and experiencing #Ashfall we’d appreciate any photographs of the ash (especially large pieces) with something for scale (eg coin) along with time and location. Data will help us link radar -> long range spotting.
