If the ending of the Lord’s Test felt like a departure from all common sense, amid a regrettable blur of confused and misplaced aggression, it’s because it was, writes @J_Polychronis.

The PGA Tour on Tuesday released a 973-word statement that would rock the sporting world, and change the game of golf as we know it forever.
Not one of those shocking 973 words was Greg, or Norman.

More or less completely abandoned this platform, but it's a big, big day. And you surely have some questions:

@ArtPepper11 It'd a valid concern I think. The players who took those massive sign-ons also were given large stakes in their teams. LIV is hoping that proves to be lucrative enough to keep them long term. If not, I'm sure there's still plenty of money to play with though!

@J_Polychronis Jacob.. when all those liv contracts are up, what happens if they (saudis) don’t pay another huge re-signing bonus? The only liv players that will stay are the ones that would earn nothing going back to the pga tour.

Why this weekend’s LIV Golf event must not simply be a Masters victory lap for an easy-to-please Oz crowd that’s just grateful for the spectacle.
... and just to get ahead of it, 'full of s**t' is a Harold Varner quote, not me.

This exact situation basically already exists in Australian first class cricket, too. Cause for concern?

Not sure I have it in me to write more pieces explaining why South Africa's batting is so brittle but in short: the first-class system is not supporting the development of Test players. Seven matches a season, played out of prime summer, and with most Test bowlers rested. Boo.
