@moneyacademyKE how?, unless they were paying pending claims too. How is it possible that claims reached 100%, meaning everyone who paid for SHA got sick and exhausted the anual cover? Or 40% all the claims were ECCIF my lawd?. Hebu explain to us how this ended up.

SHA’s SHIF fund collected Sh58 billion but paid out Sh91.5 billion in claims in FY 2024/25. That’s a 158% loss ratio, meaning for every Sh100 collected, Sh158 was paid out in claims

“Data presented to the committee showed that the smart driving licence project had generated Sh6.7 billion in revenue for the government against an investment of just Sh1.2 billion—an over 500 percent return. Lawmakers argued that instead of expanding a profitable model, the government opted to hand over the project to private players under terms they described as disproportionately favourable.” 👀

@KRACare I have spent more than 6 weeks and 25 emails with @SafaricomPLC trying to get eTims receipts issued for our business. They have made me jump through extreme hoops and are still obstructing this process, inserting new requirements. Can you assist?

The Biden Admin got 125,000 people out of Afghanistan - under fire - at roughly the loss of American life that has already happened w/Iran and got torched in the press over it while the Trump Admin didn't even bother doing contingency planning to a collective shrug in the press

Still trying to imagine what would happen if a President Biden—or a President Harris—started a war with Iran with no clear objective or timeline, said American troops were going to die because hey, that's war! and that they didn't rule out putting American boots on the ground...

@moneyacademyKE What a ln enormous waste! The tech is easy. But the subsidy needed to capture riders is through the roof! There go more of our taxes into the void.

If poverty is reduced to a formula, who gets left out? In our new paper, we examine the implementation of Kenya’s UHC indigent programme and what it reveals about targeting, stakeholder capacity, and the limits of proxy means testing. 👉: rdcu.be/e3GOo @Rahab_Mbau

@DrRoselynAkombe @justinewanda We have a big study in the field with 330 families we see every two weeks. The fees and uniform and book costs are so insanely high relative to income that everyone needs a sponsor, MP, and well-wishers to cover costs. There is no choice for families but to beg. It’s shameful.

I don’t know why we don’t see the mess in the education sector and its implications on the economy, teenage pregnancies etc. Thousands of 12/13 year-olds are at home. Not able to join JSS. I know this because we have been overwhelmed by requests for support at the #AkombeFoundation. We have had wrap up our intake this year as we do not have the institutional capacity to take and manage more than 150 cases. Saying no to those in need has been one of the toughest decisions for us.

@kenyanpundit Preach! Small businesses must account for every shilling in triplicate or face account freezes. On the spending side, failed audits mean nothing.

Ministry of Health@MOH_Kenya·
Through the Digital Health Agency (DHA),the Ministry has deployed a real-time system that tracks patient treatment and medicine issuance. Any hospital that fails to issue prescribed medicines at the facility will have its SHA claims rejected. This decisively ends the pharmacy cartel where patients were diverted to private outlets instead of receiving free medicines at public facilities. The system leaves no room for manipulation. Transparency, accountability, and patient protection win

KRA is trying to kill small businesses. eTims already places a huge burden on small vendors. These are the same vendors who rely on cyber cafes to do their eTims invoicing. KRA continues to ignore the cost Kenyans shoulder for their poor systems.
Mwango Capital@MwangoCapital

.@ambokoJH reporting that KRA has begun locking eTIMS locations using georeferencing technology to verify that tax invoices are issued from real, approved business locations, targeting fictitious invoicing that costs an estimated KES 30B annually. Invoices generated from fake or mismatched locations can now trigger an eTIMS lock, restricting return filing and invoice issuance.
