Clay Center’s Jace Weller has had a huge senior track season. After a solid junior year, Weller has broken out in 2025, setting school records in both the 200m and 400m. He won the 200m last Friday in Abilene with a time of 21.78, breaking a 70 year old record from 1955 🤯 and has posted a 48.85 in the 400m — both times ranking among the best in Class 4A. Lauren Smith, a two-time state champion in the 800m and 4x400 relay, is looking to add to her résumé this spring. Last Friday, Smith shattered a 45-plus-year-old school record in the 400m, clocking a 57.92. She currently holds the top 800m time in 4A, and with the entire 4x400 team returning from last season, expectations are high.
