Something to remember about tonight's picks, too: The Cubs believe they now know how to really help develop impact pitching. These two are clearly guys Cubs really want to work with. Part of the draft is knowing what you COULD do with a particular player in YOUR system.

@JackAlbrecht02 @CubsZone Honestly we need pitching badly, we’re kinda stacked on offense but obviously we can never have enough of anything lol. I don’t dislike the first round pick but it obviously would’ve been nice to take one of the big offensive bats. Only time will tell of course.

Because Horton still had two years of eligibility remaining - instead of just one like most college picks - I realize now that the Cubs probably had to pay quite a bit more than you might expect to get him to sign. He might not be all that under slot.
