@JackPrior_Cleo@GergelyOrosz Sorry to hear that Jack, I knew there had been some lay-offs in talent though (I think?) Gergely has said before he's exclusively focused on eng.
I imagine most of the companies listed here have talent departments that have been impacted, given the slowdown in hiring :(
Is there any privately traded FinTech unicorn left that raised a substantial amount of $$ in 2021, hired aggressively, and is not doing, or will be doing layoffs in 2022?
I am running out of examples I can think of.
@GergelyOrosz GoCardless fits this bill, at least for the minute. No idea how the next year will pan out for them, but they’ve always avoided the super flashy end of VC growth behaviours.
BREAKING: companies are hiring software engineers and engineering managers.
More than 750 of them! Thanks to everyone who contributed to this list. See the full one here:

(Using the 'breaking' part to highlight some good news for a change!)
outstanding since we first invested in 2011, but @hirokitakeuchi & team @GoCardless =🔥 these last 18 mos 😮 congrats to them on acquiring 🇱🇻 @nordigen which services >2,300 banks in 31 countries as they build out the world’s bank payment network 🌍💸gocardless.com/blog/gocardles…
🎉 We’re excited to announce that we've raised $312m in a Series G funding round with new investors @PermiraNews & @BlackRock_UK Private Equity Partners
We're expanding our footprint in the #OpenBanking space and are on a mission to become the world’s leading bank pay network 🦄
@GergelyOrosz we care about our Values a lot here at @GoCardless; it isn't a buzzword thing - a good example being one of our values being 'Start With Why', so often that's about how they show they break down problems and prioritisations across interviews rather than just saying 'why' a lot
What are companies where to get a job as an engineer, you are expected to present the company's values?
Ones I'm aware of are Amazon (Leadership Principles) and Adyen (Adyen Formula). Both places tend to reject when not "repeating" their corporate values enough.
Which others?
📣 Got some news: I'm starting at @incident_io on Monday. 🥳🥳🥳
Could not be more excited to join the amazing team - looking forward to building a great product and learning loads along the way!
🔥🔥🔥
@jesslynnrose I'm a Tech Rec at GoCardless; we're hiring engineers, as well as managers for our London office. Happy to share more deets, but you can have a dig around here: bit.ly/3x0lh00
@rsslldnphy so I'd just treat hiring underrepresented groups into those roles as business critical... just say that you'll ring-fence those roles for the right people, and make sure you and the team are putting in the hard work to reach-out to the right people 2/2
@rsslldnphy It's a good question, and I think my only answer is going to sound more obtuse then it intends to be, but the importance of hiring a diverse team is a more important impact for the culture of the business, and it'll only get harder the bigger you get 1/2
