@ProudHeadTeach1 @carlybaldwin88 We are much better than 18-24 months ago. I think people don’t realise just how backwards Lewis took the team and dragged them down.

@ProudHeadTeach1 @carlybaldwin88 God no, it’s miles better than it was 3/4 years ago. Back then there wasn’t even attempts to stop the ball. Think we have to step back from today and the overreaction (I’m guilty myself) and actually look at the fact they are a lot better than they were 3/4 years ago

@JackRuleLD @carlybaldwin88 I feel the fielding and catching has gone backwards over the last few years, compared to 3/4 years ago. And to use that old phrase catches win matches. I do feel we have some better players but they aren’t always delivering.

@ProudHeadTeach1 @carlybaldwin88 People forget that WI game was lost because Knight got injured and Jon Lewis wouldn’t allow NSB to do anything that he hadn’t said would happen. That side was highly hamstuck by Lewis. Edwards is a very different character

@JackRuleLD @carlybaldwin88 No today hasn’t changed my opinion, especially when it’s not the starting XI. NSB a massive miss! Just not convinced we’ll reach the final, perhaps still got the scars after the game against West Indies (last T20 World Cup). The fielding, catching & pressure moments worry me.

@ProudHeadTeach1 @carlybaldwin88 We haven’t gone backwards, that’s wrong , we have better players now than we have had in the last few years and actually not relying on those who aren’t T20 players anymore. SA is probably the strongest side now.

@ProudHeadTeach1 @carlybaldwin88 I’m still confident going into the WC we will reach knockouts and most likely reach the final. When you get to knockouts in T20s anything can happen. Today was bad, but it’s not as bad that they will lose everything and the world is faking apart.

@JackRuleLD @carlybaldwin88 Fair point, but even with those 3 playing I don’t have confidence in that batting line up. Then if you add in the fielding and catching issues, as well as their cracking under pressure I am not confident going into the World Cup.

@JackRuleLD @ProudHeadTeach1 I personally think that we should be looking for every player to contribute in (at least) two of the three facets, and that Jones is only currently consistently good enough in one. But we can agree to disagree! Have a nice evening.

@carlybaldwin88 @ProudHeadTeach1 She is there to Keep, we shouldn’t be in a position we are relying on her batting, in a side that has the batting talent it does. Capsey is there for the on the day injury, not if Jones gets injured before games.

@JackRuleLD @ProudHeadTeach1 Fully agree with your first sentence. However is she contributing enough with the bat to keep her place? Not for me. They’ve nominated Capsey as the back-up - I’ve no idea what her keeping is like, but it must be a consideration for them.

@JackRuleLD I think she’s been tested…..and others deserved a chance. She’s no match winner at the top level

@carlybaldwin88 @ProudHeadTeach1 There still isn’t a keeper in the country who is better than her keeping wise. Those that come close, Threlkeld & Southby arent as good and batting is slightly worse than Jones. You also can’t change your keeper this close to a WC.

@ProudHeadTeach1 @JackRuleLD Getting ahead of the run rate should have been paramount. They would’ve lost nothing by dropping Knight down the order in favour of Kemp/Gibson. Also (not based on today) unsure if Amy Jones’ wicketkeeping outweighs her lack of contribution with the bat any more.

@carlybaldwin88 @JackRuleLD I agree with those points, especially in T20. They were doing okayish 10 overs in then the scoring rate slowed. A total lack of 4 and 6 balls, that New Zealand scored. The team feels as if it’s going backward, and they don’t seem sure who their best 11 are.

@AxsonGeorge She is there as cover for NSB, I don’t mind testing her out if NSB is going to be injured.

Glorious Cricket weather this weekend Remember when you are your club games, whether it be playing or watching Take a minute to think about your umpires in the middle all day with no rest bite. Buy them a drink or an ice cream to say thanks, those little things go a long way

@triciag59 @legsidelizzy Unless you have no games at all on Sunday, you’ll always have the same questions but end of the day there will always be clashes. And the season is wrapped up anyway

@JackRuleLD @legsidelizzy I wouldn’t normally , but they have pitched the women v the final kick off of the premiership season and that makes it difficult for attendance numbers 🤷‍♀️

OK so some of you are asking why Surrey are playing Lancs when they are in different groups. Bloody good question. Basically - everyone plays everyone in their group home and away and then to get to 12 matches per side, they also play a team from one of the other groups.

@triciag59 @legsidelizzy I don’t have an issue with the 12.00 start on a Sunday, and especially the fact the womens game gets to go second for once in a while.

@JackRuleLD @legsidelizzy They are playing each other on Sunday at Lords , last day of the football season , so 12.00 start and then the women at 4.00 , not making sense 🤷‍♀️IMHO

Look at that weather across the Bank Holiday weekend. Peak cricket weather for the start of the Blast. It’s almost as if we are playing the comp in the prime summer months.

@triciag59 @legsidelizzy And then both play again in London on Sunday. Yet there is not a single mens game in Kent, Sussex or Hampshire until Monday, and that is only 1 single game. Plus then the fact the midlands has one game all weekend in Birmingham on Sunday and that’s it.
