@jasonfurman Correct. Although they mention the confidence interval is high, not a lot of data. Another study I read showed a 2 year lag historically (can send when at desk). Seems likely its somewhere in the middle. Things are quicker today but 2 years to 2 quarters is quite the jump.

A small irony in the current monetary debate is how the progressive side has adopted the Friedman-Sargent positions that emphasize long and variable lags and the ability of anchored expectations to bring down inflation painlessly. (Which doesn't mean these views are wrong.)

Annualize the last month of core inflation and were currently at 2.4%. Exclude shelter which lags and its negative. Thats with most of the current hikes not having even taken effect yet and more hikes coming. Feds hiking into a deflationary enviroment. They are fucking up again
