Tomorrow, DHS will publish a new proposed "public charge" rule. Trump 1.0 sought to implement a "wealth test" barring immigrants if they were "too poor," accessed public benefits, or were deemed likely to be dependent on the government for support.

We took out these student loans w/the expectation, the PROMISE from the government, that our loans would be forgiven after ten years of public service. I would never have taken out these loans were it not for this expectation. I'm literally hyperventilating right now.

According to the Constitution, judges CAN limit executive power. That's the whole point of checks + balances. So, to be clear, Vance is saying he doesn't believe we should follow the rule of law and the Constitution. We don't live under a military dictatorship...yet.

If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal. If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that's also illegal. Judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power.

Trump's action of freezing all federal aid is blatantly unconstitutional. The Constitution gives Congress the "power of the purse." Presidents can't just decide not to fund programs authorized by Congress. We must fight this egregious lawlessness.
