@joeyjguarino Other than the oppression in Bloomfield Hills, yes. One has to go Ann Arbor to see anything so shameful

Poor Abdul, with wealthy engineer parents, growing up in the richest suburb of Michigan, attending one of the wealthiest public schools in the country, it all must’ve been so hard 😿 shame on me, growing up under the poverty line with a single mother, for criticizing His Majesty.
Karthik@KarthikForTexas

I was neutral, but all these attacks on AES’s fairly earned credentials pisses me off. AES had to work three times as hard in life to be considered half as good as his two opponents. Who will join me?

@joeyjguarino Yes, Michigan is somewhat bereft of elite clusters. There is Grosse Pointe South, of course. And, back to Bloomfield, Cranbrook. Kid Rock made a lot out of his act - but Dr. Abdul el- Sayed has remarkably little shame. It's a hoot

@joeyjguarino He does claim to have been oppressed at Andover. Would love to see Johnathan Chait - a fellow sufferer of privilege and Andover alum - walk the American voter through Bloomfield Hills Michigan. It's almost an Eminem movie

Taking a look at his career, it seems like a lot of hopping between high profile jobs to pad the resume for a political career (polar opposite of Pete, who Abdul stole his Johnny come lately health platform from). He resigned from the Detroit health department to run for governor
Bonkers D. Bobcat of Detroit@eldermullenial

Abdul El-Sayed is that rare person who is a career politician who has never won a single election.

@joeyjguarino Indeed. It broke people's heart when Andover had to merge with slovenly Lahser. Dr. Abdul el-Sayed did not have to suffer that indignity

Craig's family in Michigan doesn't give a damn
Craig Spencer MD MPH@Craig_A_Spencer

I can tell you that my family in Michigan doesn't give a damn about this faux 'scandal'. I can also tell you a fixation and fetishization of 'title's and degrees is exactly why many of them hate the Democratic party. @AbdulElSayed is a MD PhD Rhodes Scholar that successful ran Detroit's health department for years. Plus, this isn't new news at all, it was reported years ago. But it conveniently became a big deal today when a new poll showed him in the lead. Y'all, we need to get over ourselves. If he comes at you trying to do brain surgery, yeah, maybe its a thing. But if he's putting forward policy about the absolutely embarrassing mess that is health care is in this country, its hard to imagine anything that matters less.

@StefFeldman He was quite clear during Covid that he regretted not being able to help his brothers and sisters in healthcare

I just don't understand why he wouldn't be straightforward. He went to medical school -- great! He should talk about that. He's not a physician. Signed, a J.D. who is not a lawyer
Daniel Lippman@dlippman

NEW: Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed for years has publicly said he’s a physician — but there’s overwhelming evidence that he’s had no experience as a licensed medical doctor. (W/ @adamwren) politico.com/news/2026/05/1…

I covered El Sayeds campaign in 2018 when he was running for governor and all he ever talked about was his work in public health. I assumed that was all he really worked in, he was never like oh yeah I saved someone from a heart attack at a party.

True. Dr. El-Sayed was called on the doctor thing years ago. Still plays it a bit. But to the point: if you want to call him a grifter just call him a grifter. Don't hide behind @politico
Sohrab Ahmari@SohrabAhmari

Sorry, but this is BS. I interviewed @AbdulElSayed months ago, and when going over his background with me, he immediately made it clear that he received an MD but declined to practice, instead pursuing a career in public health. There was no hiding / obfuscating on his part.

@TeamMcMorrow Come on Team Silly Dance, you knew this ten years ago - everyone did. Don't hide behind Politico. If you want to say the grifter from Bloomfield Hills is a grifter then say he is a grifter

Turns out Abdul El-Sayed misrepresented, over and over, being a physician. He’s not. The truth? He’s never held a medical license, never did a residency, and never passed his boards.

@adamwren Dude: Dr Abdul el-Sayed has been playing Dr. Abdul el-Sayed for ten years - at least. @ChadLivengood was vilified for pointing out he doesn't see patients. That was 2020

The state of Michigan prohibits anyone who is not licensed “to induce the belief” that they have a license or are registered to practice medicine. politico.com/news/2026/05/1…
