Tyler Cerny had a fantastic 3-year career at Indiana. He was an everyday player from the moment he stepped on campus, slashed .292/.371/.511 with 30 HR and 135 RBI in 174 games and made phenomenal defensive plays on a daily basis. I did a feature story on him last fall. He was very easy to talk to and open about his journey to the college ranks. #iubase head coach Jeff Mercer said Cerny has the chance to play in the pros for a long time and I agree. Like me, Cerny’s an Indiana kid. I rooted for him in high school. All people make mistakes — we’re human. Yes, I reported on some of those on-field blunders, but I never said he had a terrible career. That is untrue. Don’t put words in my mouth.

Even with then B1G Freshman of the Year (Jake Hanley) and 2 First Team All-B1G outfielders (Devin Taylor, Korbyn Dickerson), the 2025 Indiana baseball season was extremely underwhelming. #iubase
