@RansomStoddard1 Not necessarily, Evil Dead Burn could’ve worked as strong counter-programming if they marketed it better + kept it in its original July 24 release date.
Also WB already have another horror movie set for October - Clayface.

Struggling to break-even on a $20M horror IP film is embarrassing for Warner Bros - they didn’t give a shit about marketing this film properly.
WB's marketing campaigns have been awful all around this year & it’s why almost every film has underperformed.

2026 just isn’t WB’s year, as R-rated horror #EvilDeadBurn ended up extremely frontloaded at US #BoxOffice this weekend, after grossing just 13.7M on 3-day Opening weekend (vs #Smile 22.6M, #Candyman 22M, #TheBlackPhone 23.6M, #EvilDeadRise’s 24.5M). Luckily, with a 20M production price tag not including marketing, it still has chances to end in the black as long as international markets do their thing.

@DigiRanger1994 One trailer and an over-reliance of influencer marketing.
I’m not anti-influencer and I think it’s important to weave them into modern movie marketing campaigns but WB’s over-reliance on them this year has led to their own downfall here.
