Save this the next time a Guardians fan complains about Hedges. Would it be great if he was a .750 OPS guy? Sure.
But, his prep, game-calling and leadership is worth the 4m/season.

I mean, he's everything from a… locker room leader… off the field leader to on the field game manager. He's probably going to be a phenomenal coach one day. And he just knows how to control the game... I told him in our pregame meeting, ‘if you see me getting too wild up, too fast during the game: full permission calm me down.’ Like, look at me and tell me to calm down. And he did that multiple times. My college head coach had a personal rule that he would never be alone with a woman, not even in an elevator. Some people thought it was weird, unnecessary or overly pious. He considered it a guard rail for himself to honor his wife, his faith and his responsibility to everyone in the building. As a college athlete I didn’t fully understand. As a grown man, I get it. And I’m grateful.
