I think those who don’t see the concern with giving an NHS Trust your personal phone number must be lucky to work for Trusts that respect reasonable boundaries. I, however, have been called repeatedly this year by the bereavement office whilst on annual leave.

@JadeTopping5 @doctor_dru_ I also understand that a patient may die when a cardiologist or other specialist is on holiday in Dubai! It is NOT their responsibility- it is up to the employer to ensure there is adequate cover

@doctor_dru_ I agree. I’d ask the service desk or team where your number is stored. I don’t think this is acceptable either. Get it taken down I know you have a busy job and this is an additional task to do but might help the frustration you and others go through. I appreciate the work u do

@JadeTopping5 I’ve no idea how the phone numbers are stored. I didn’t answer, but from the voicemails left each time it seems to have been to come & complete MCCD/crem forms. I don’t think it’s ever acceptable to call a doctor on their mobile without their express consent for that

@JadeTopping5 The process should be to try the bleep or if not answered/none documented to ring their ward and ask for them. If they’re on leave or a day off it’s not something you should be contacting them about

@doctor_dru_ I’ve created this documentation digitally for @UHNM_NHS as a business change support worker with the support of digital noting within our in house system. We created as is and to be process maps to understand the issues.

@CaroRoshan @doctor_dru_ I understand but do you understand the effect of missing this information has on the process AND the patient/ family? I understand that you just see it’s an inconvenience for you completely.

@JadeTopping5 @doctor_dru_ It’s irrelevant - when you’re on leave you are NOT paid to answer work questions on your personal phone - I’ve been self employed your 20+ years - I answer “some” calls whilst on hols - my choice - I wouldn’t if I was employed

So much to unpack in this one issue. 8 days off and I feel I’ve been gone a lifetime!!

@TomHowardASD Put it on a worry list at the beginning of the day along with your other thoughts. At the end of the day get a brew and review. Have a think about those things you can change/complete and tick off any that don’t matter. Reminders or notes work for a digital version ✌️

If the PA children of doctors, are so smart that they can be placed on accelerated fast track paths into elite medical specialities, why the fk couldn’t they get in to medical school in the first place? Entire medical establishment working to please these pushy parents.

Today I thought I would write my clinic letters to the patient as a “summary to record what we discussed” and cc the GP. It really made me consider the language we use that is understandable but medically accurate. I really enjoyed doing it this way and will continue!
