I hate the era we currently live in—a time when all-ages animation is denigrated simply because it is deemed "only for deadbrained and stupid kids." The people doing the complaining are the same puppets who believe animation caters to just two audiences: adults who consume 18+ series, and elementary school children. To these people, if a show doesn't feature explicit sex, drugs, profanity, or gore, they dismiss it as mindless kids' fare that isn't worth watching. If they were to watch *The Amazing Digital Circus*, for instance, they would assume it was meant for kindergarteners. For some reason, having sex and killing people is considered profound enough to pay attention to (as if it doesn't compare to dangling keys in front of them). They would only bother watching a series like that if—ironically enough—it *lacked* animation, much like what happened with Disney's live-action remakes. And the worst part is that, since they constitute the majority, they are the very people that corporations listen to first. The reason this doesn't happen with indie projects is that their creators and fans are people who truly know how to appreciate animation for what it is—people who grew up with it. That is why the indie scene continues to grow; meanwhile, the major studios fail to appreciate these projects because they are too busy listening to the wrong audience. The very same audience that mocks adults and kids who watch animated series—while sucking like a bone a viral AI video about an Fruit being unfaithful. And no, children aren't stupid; nor does watching children's shows make you stupid. I only wish people could also appreciate the children's series that are actually deeper than adult shows—because the explicit nature of adult series doesn't make them profound; it's just a label they are able to touch.
